Could anyone help me with a look-up for Marmaduke Robinson in the 1841 census please?
I'm afraid I know nothing about him other than he was a farmer and his wife was called Frances. They were in Belton (Isle of Axholme) between 1816 and 1826 so I'm hoping he's still there in 1841.
I'll list his children as they may help identify him (all born in Belton):
Richard, born c.1816
Harriet, born c.1818
Samuel, born c.1821
Elizabeth, born c.1824
George, born c.1826
Marmaduke and Frances are my 4xGt-Grandparents and are a new discovery as of today so it would be great to find him on a census return.
Thank you,
Jo. :)

There are 7 entries in the NBI Isle of Axholme 1727-1849, for Marmaduke Robinson on the familyhistoryonline site

I hadn't looked for him on that site - what a lot of Marmaduke Robinsons!
With such an unusual name and all in the Isle of Axholme I wonder if they are all part of the same extended family?
Thank you,
Jo. :)

Thank you for the look-up and the extra information. :)
The Marmaduke living at Westgate, Belton would seem to be the one I'm looking for - from the baptisms at Belton he had a daughter Elizabeth baptised in 1824.
There is a baptism on the IGI for a 'Duke' Robinson, baptised 5th Feb 1784 in Belton which I shall check out a bit further now as this date would fit nicely with the age of the Marmaduke you have found.
Thank you,
Jo.

Jo,
Don't know if you have this yet...
Marmaduke Robinson mar Frances Crabtree 29 June 1813, Belton
I just got the Isle of Axholme marriage indices.

Hi John,
Thank you very much. :) I didn't have this information.
Looking at the IGI there are two baptisms in Crowle for a Frances Crabtree, one in 1782 and one in 1787. They would seem to be to the same parents so the 1787 one is looking very likely.
I've got the Crowle parish registers for the period so I shall have a look through them now.

I'm going to have to have a look through the parish registers to confirm all this, but using the IGI and familyhistoryonline I've found out loads thanks to your bit of information. :)
Frances was baptised Dec 14th 1787 at Crowle, daughter of George Crabtree and Elizabeth Savage.
George Crabtree (1768-1857) was, if I'm right, baptised and buried at Belton in Axholme and his parents were William and Alice Crabtree.
George Crabtree married Elizabeth Savage Nov 25th 1787 in Crowle (not much time between the marriage and Frances' baptism on Dec 14th 1787 ::)). Elizabeth Savage was baptised April 23rd 1769 in Crowle, daughter of Thomas Savage and Frances. There's a possible burial for Thomas in 1815 in Belton which would place his birth at around 1746.
This has given me so much more information and taken me back two further generations. I can't thank you enough.

Hi, Maraduke and Frances are also my 4x Great grandparents (through their son George) and I have been trying to find his parents for ages.

Marmaduke was bured at Belton 26 Jan 1849 "aged 66", so the 1784 baptism of "Duke" certainly looks a possibility.
