Hi,
From IGI, I have a Claudius Alfred Scrivener baptised at Saffron Waldon, Essex. I would like a check on the Saffron Waldon parish registers (possibly Independent) for verification and parents as well as a search for the birth of Edward Scrivener (about 1834).
Any info about Scriveners in that area would be appreciated,
Liz

Hi Liz
Ive looked on 1841 census for Essex and there are 69
Scrivener's there but none in Saffron Waldon, could they be in another area?
Cant find Claudius anywhere and no Edward in Essex.
Alison.

Hi Alison & CP,
Many thanks for your kind help. The London family looks very like mine. My husband's ancestor Edward Scrivener, had a brother Cephas, father Job and mother Mary. He was 71 in 1905 when he died so should have been listed with his parents aged about 7 in 1841; it is a bit of a mystery.
I have not located a record of his baptism but this information may help me track it down. He seems to have left London for Australia about 1851 so may not be on that Census. He set up as a draper in Sydney so it would be surprising if this was not his family,

Thanks Alison. It does look as though this is my Job. The rest of the family will be found one day I guess.
