Albert E Mace a sailor on steamships was born in YORKSHIRE ,England in 1872,may have lived in Bristol, Mass.
Alfred Mace 1861 born Holborn,Middlesex,England lived in East Ham, Essex before moving to the USA with his wife Clara Mace born 1866 in Lambeth England and a daughter Maud born 1889.
The family may have started an engineering company called Mace and Stephenson in the Boston area dates not known so this could have been some years later.

Thanks for the replies but it im still stuck ,i cannot find Albert e and Maud and cannot link all the family together even on the England census, just cannot understand why they all seem to be apart. My great grandfather John William Mace his father ,same name and all the others never appear together as far as i know .I cannot find any birth details for him,he was born Essex or London in 1867.

Hi John
Found these two entries for Albert E. Mace in Massachusetts.
1920 US Census, MA, Norfolk County, Dedham township
MACE
Albert, Head, 45, to USA 1890/91, Na in 1916, b England
both parents born England, Occup: Electrical Construction
Laura, Wife, 45, to USA 1893, Na in 1916, b Canada
Ethel, dau, 19, b Massachusetts
Albert, Jr, son, 16, b Massachusetts
Laura L, dau, 13, b Massachusetts
Arthur, son, 11, b Massachusetts
and in 1930
USA census, Massachusetts, Norfolk County, Dedham
MACE
Albert E., Head, 49, b England, to USA 1896, Naturalised,
Occupation: Electrical Contractor
Laura, wife 47, b Canada, to USA 1900, Naturalized
Arthur W, son, 21, single, b Massachusetts.
I believe this is the same family even though the ages are off. There is an Albert Mace in the Bristol area in 1930, his age is given as 66, but is born in Maine, not UK.
Hope this helps.

Valerie
