Hello,
I was wondering whether anyone could have a look for the marriage of Henry and Philadelphia Silsby (or Selsby) some time before October 1828.
I've looked at the Bolney parish records where two sons were born and baptized (George on 10/10/1828 and James on 01/08/1832) but they weren't married there. Perhaps the wedding took place in Twineham or Cuckfield?
Philadelphia is not with Henry and the two boys for the 1841 census, so I presume that she died before then. Again, I can't see her burial listed at Bolney.
Many thanks,
JJS

Hello JJS,
How about this couple:
Place: Cuckfield
Date: 19th February 1828
Groom: Henry Selsby, bachelor
Bride: Philadelphia Packham, spinster
Both of this parish, by Banns
Witnesses: Thomas and Sarah Packham

That looks about right - brilliant!
I know it's being cheeky, but I don't suppose you have any baptisms for Henry and Philadelphia in Cuckfield? I believe that Henry's mother was called Ann, and he would have been born some time between 1802 and 1806.
Thank you for finding the marriage details for me!
Regards,

Hi again, JJS.
If you google "Philadelphia Packham" you'll find someone else who also has her in her tree. A google for "Thomas Packham" will find the same person and a list of parents and siblings.

Sorry, I don't have any baptisms. :(

Hi Dimps,
I've now found a likely baptism for Philadelphia in Cuckfield - 08 October 1809, the daughter of Thomas and Ann Packham!
Nothing for Henry Selsby though - I shall have to try another village! And so the search goes on...
Kind regards,
JJS
