My great great grandfather and his son were both Archibald Stewart each of Buskhead. Great great grandfather's parents were Walter Stewart and Jean (Jane) EGO or EGGO. Is this the same family?

I have a Martha Innes on my tree who married John Dewar Stewart in Lochlee in 1900. John was the son of David Stewart and Ann Will and his grandparents were William Stewart / Ann Moir and James Will / Jane Rickard. I can't find a death in Scotland for either John or Martha. Do these names ring any bells with anyone out there ?

Hey Sylvia,
I may be able to help you a bit, I was trying to find my great great uncle David Stewart born 1853 in Lochlee who seemed to disappear after 1881.
Unfortunately I didn't find him but I did find a death for a David Stewart February 10, 1910 aged 89, parents were William Stewart and Ann Moir. He also left a wife behind Ann Will. Apparently he had broken his leg and didn't survive. The informant was his son-in-law (my gg uncle) James Stewart who had married Isabella, John Dewar Stewarts sister. It may be significant to note that David was living with his daughter Isabella at Waterside Cottage in Lochlee at the time.
According to http://www.deceasedonline.com , John Dewar Stewart was buried December 10, 1948 in Brechin not sure about Martha but getting John Dewar's grave details may result in burial details for her.
Curious to see if your branch is a twig or part of your main line.

Hello Jeff
Thank you very much. With your help I found the d/c for John Stewart. His wife Martha appears to have changed her name to Matilda and that was why I could not find her d/c. I assume you are looking for the David Stewart son of David Stewart and Jean Donaldson ? I have not come across anything for him either. I have 5 children for them. I know Elizabeth married William Louden and that James married Isabella Simpson Stewart but nothing for the other three. My main interest started with the name Duke. My gggrandmother was Elizabeth Duke. She had a sister named Helen who had 2 illegitimate daughters named Elizabeth Beattie and Margaret Edward. Elizabeth married Robert Innes and Margaret married David Paterson. I've done a bit of research in the Edzell and Lochlee areas so if you have a question, I would be only too pleased to try and help.

Hey Sylvia,
I am glad I was able to help you find the d/c for your John Stewart. Yes I was trying to look for the David Stewart that had parent's David and Jane Donaldson, I have not been able to find anything definite for him or his brother William. I am thinking they may have emmigrated to another country but which one I'm not sure where :). I would assume you have the death certificate for David Stewart from 1910??
The daughter Jane, of David and Jane, is my great great grandmother and have been tracing a line of 3 generations of illegimate births from that which has been a challenge. I have been trying to obtain headstones, photographs of relatives from Lochlee but finding it difficult being from Canada.

Hello Jeff
Yes, I have a copy of the d/c for David Stewart who died in 1910. I live close to a family history library run by the Mormon Church. I ordered the films covering all marriages and death for Edzell and Lochlee from 1855 to 1875 plus 1881 and 1891. I made notes of ALL entries. Have you heard of a book titled Glenesk, The History and Culture of an Angus Community by Margaret Fairweather Michie ? It's mostly about the families of Lochlee. Your local library may have a copy ?
