Hi Shirley
Sorry I missed this post.
I have looked on the marriage index and found two likely candidates for your James.
James Lightfoot weaver to Ann Smith 25 Feb 1794 Bowdon
James Lightfoot to Dorothy Kinsey 29 Aug 1794 Rostherne.
(She is the only Dorothy married to a Jas Lightfoot I could find).
I looked on the 1841 for Dunham, but couldn't find them. Unfortunately some of the pages are unreadable so they might have been there.
Sorry couldn't be of more help.
Kind regards

Hi Shirley
Just as a matter of interest. According to Cheshirebmd a Dorothy Lightfoot died in 1838 age 77 Altrincham District (now Trafford). She could be James wife. If you sent for her Death Cert, it might give you details of next of kin if one of her family was present at death.
If James preceeded her, that's why I can't find them on the 1841.
Kind regards

Need to find out.
Don't know where this James who was married to Dorothy is Born, and who all his children are. His parents would also be great.
Now for James and Annie Smith married on 25-02-1794
from Dunham .
Need to know who his parents are and if they had any children. and how many, etc.
In order to find out which one of these two are Williams father.
I have check at St Mary's and they have no other info.
Any help would be very greateful.

Hi Shirley
I have taken another look at 1841 Dunham but can't find any other Lightfoots. Sorry.
I have also looked on the IGI for all your Lightfoots and can't seem to find any of them. I thought Hume(Hulme) would be a good bet as it is an unusual name, but no, couldn't find him either. They are a mystery. ???
Where you have put James snr. born 'out of country' should read 'born out of County which means he supposedly wasn't born in Cheshire. However, it could also mean that he wasn't born in Bowdon.
Are the William, Betty, Hume, and John your ancestors, or is that what you are trying to confirm?
I will PM Peterbennett and ask him what he thinks is your next best course of action, as I can't think what to do next.
It looks like there were two James Lightfoot's born around the same time, who married in the same year, one to Dorothy and the other to Ann. I think (I could be entirely wrong) that the one married to Ann at Bowdon, might be the James born in Dunham.
The one married to Dorothy could be the one born out of County.
I think you have a bit of a problem here.
I'm going away for a fortnight tomorrow, so I'll see if Peter can help you.
Kind regards

Hi Shirley
I have spoken to Peter through PM and he advises me that he has done all he can under the circumstances, and that he had advised you to contact cheshire parish records office.
Apart from that advice, I can't think of any other way you might be able to find James and Dorothy.
Sorry I can't help further.
Kind regards
