Title: 1841/1851 Census or Parish Record Lookup Please
Post by: cgrace on Tuesday 14 February 06 02:12 GMT (UK)
Can anyone help with a lookup for John Clark prior to 1861(30yrs old 1861 census)  He was apparently born Pidley cum Fenton abt 1830.

He married Mary Anne Walker 1854 reg district St Ives. She also has Pidley as her birthplace. Born abt 1835.

A child Amelia was born 1854.

I don't seem to be able to find anything on either of them prior to their marriage in 1854.

Any help with info on  John Clark or Mary Anne Walker would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you....Chris

Thank you so much for the 1841 info. I've waited for so long to put the pieces together for this line.

I'm intrigued about the second Betsy Walker. Could you tell me where to obtain a copy of the census page for this family.

Thanks again

Chris

Hello there,

I see you list the Ledgers of Bletchington as an area of research. I am curious as to what information you may have on them. One of my ancestors was a Florence Ledger daughter of Henry and Jane Ledger. Florence Ledger ended up in Ireland and married a William Morton. I believe she came across as a ladies maid, her employer was marrying into a family in Armagh. My mother knows the whole story. We also have a very dated photo of Florence as a young girl.

If any of this sounds familiar please let me know and I will pass on any info we may have.

Hi Pollypop,

Yes, Jane and Henry Ledger were my gg/grandparents.  Alice their eldest daughter was my g/grandmother married to James Maltby.

I have been in touch with someone in Ireland who is also adecendant of Florence and I know he would fill you in with details of Florence's life in Ireland. He also has a very old photo of Jane but as yet hasn't been able to scan it for me to get a copy.

I'd be happy to exchange any informatio so please email me at wadec@gcb.newsltd.com.au and I can send you what I have.

regards
Chris

Hi Geoff,
I do have Agnes and I think I came to the conclusion that Frances and Fanny were one and the same. From memory there was a discepancy in the registration of the birth that led me to believe it was the same child. I stand to be corrected and I would need to dig out all the paperwork and check it out.
Are you on Ancestry? My tree is there under 'Maltby family tree' . You are welcome to share it and it might help you too. It's by no means complete but you might find somethjng that helps you.
