Title: 1841 Census - Matthew Walling etc
Post by: old birkonian on Monday 13 February 06 17:40 GMT (UK)
I would appreciate receiving details for Matthew Walling (b. 1804) and his wife Elizabeth Martindale (who I think may have died sometime in 1841). In 1851 Matthew was living at the Howe (farm) in Lyth.

In 1846 Matthew subsequently married a Mary Rigg (b. 1818 in Crosthwaite) so any details about Mary would be useful

Finally, could you tell me the occupants of Dawson Fold (farm) situated within the parish of Crosthwaite cum Lyth.  In 1851 the farm was the home of bachelor Daniel Dickinson aged 44 together with his two sisters and two brothers - all of whom were also single.

Apologies for such an extended enquiry.  Cheers and thanks.

Mary Rigg was my great great grandmother.  she was the second wife of Matthew Walling.  her son Daniel married Mary Jane Dunnerdale - my great grandparents.  I have no information on either of these ladies except that Mary was a servant of the Dickinsons of Dawsons Fold in 1871 census. She and Matthew married, I believe at Kendal Registry Office in 1846.
