Title: 1841 + 1851 Census Liverpool - MONEYPENNY-COMPLETED
Post by: MissM on Monday 13 February 06 14:43 GMT (UK)
I'm looking for my G G Grandfather, Matthew Moneypenny, b circa 1809 in NI but married in Liverpool in 1820.  I have him from 1861 onwards but I'd like to go earlier if posible.  He lived in the Everton area.

As I can't find any Irish records of Matthew, I'm hoping (desperately) that someone from his family in Ireland came with him to Liverpool and was living with him in 1841-1851.

Any help would be apreciated!  I have found millions (slight exaggeration... ;)) of Moneypennys in Liverpool and NI but NO MATTHEWS!!!

Thanks in advance!

Lynne

Hi Sheila

Yes that's them in 1851!

Well, I see they have some cousins with them - Lee's - that might give me some inroads into Ireland.

Thanks so much for your help -I'm off to the NI board now!

Hi again Lynne

You may have these but just in case.  From IGI and all have parents Matthew Moneypenny and Elizabeth.

Christenings at St Peter, Liverpool

William - 2 Jan 1832
Elizabeth - 6 August 1837
Jane Ann - 22 Jan 1841
Ellen - 14 July 1947
James - 8 August 1852

Looked in 1841, couldn't find them at Carson Street but I don't have a name index so it's like needle and haystack.  Perhaps someone else will look or if you can get reference I will have another look.

Regards

Sheila

Hi Sheila

Thanks for the extra info.  I only had James's DOB (my G Grandad!)

It's always good to fill in the other details.

Thanks again for all your hard work,
Lynne

Hello,
This is my first time on and just picked up your message.  I have information regarding your James Moneypenny. My great grandfather was also James Moneypenny, but alas, the other one from Toxteth Park.  However, as I wasn't aware at that time that there were two of them, I obtained the marriage certificate of your James.

Dated 17th May 1880, solemnized at St.Nicholas' Church in Liverpool, James Moneypenny, aged 26 years, widower, painter, residing at Great Homer Street, son of Matthew Moneypenny, a police officer, married Elizabeth  Jane Lewis, 19 years, spinster, also of Great Homer Street, daughter of Richard Lewis, also a police officer.

Witnesses were  Jms Rd (possibly James Richard) McHugh and Lucindia Wilson.

Elizabeth Jane Lewis signed her name with her mark "X"

I hope this is some help to you.

Hi Missy

I was just replying to your post on the other Moneypenny topic where you have written to Ayla when I realised this one was to me!

Thanks for getting in touch.  I have James's birth certificate and wedding certificate to both wives (he was married twice).  I also have a copy of the church register entry of Matthew's wedding  to Elizabeth Cretney at St Nick's in 1830.

Do you have history further back than your David?  I am almost certain he and Matthew are closely related so if I can find David's birth certificate or details, I might be finding Matthew too!

Thanks again for your help,

Lynne
