I checked for LEE and LEA, but there was no sign in any of the parishes I hold the 51 indexes for around Berkhamsted and St Albans (see look up offer for full list.)
The rest of the 51 along with the 41 and 61, is only available on film at the moment.
Sorry

that's ok Rick. it was a long shot anyway.
perhaps you can help with another problem though.
my research has led me to believe this couple was born Hemel hempstead in Herefordshire but on his son Henry's convict papers it states family born Hertfordshire. is there
anywhere in Hertfordshire with a similar name to Hemel Hempstead.
thanks

Hemel Hempstead is definitely in Hertfordshire and not Herefordshire, and I cannot think of anywhere in Hertfordshire that sounds similar to Hemel Hempstead.
As I didn't check Hemel Hempstead in 1851, (because it is only available on film) they could have been living there then. It might be worth hiring the film from your nearest LDS FHC to check. The 1851 index for all of Herts is available for viewing at HALS http://www.hertsdirect.org/libsleisure/heritage1/HALS/ but if you cannot visit in person they will probably charge you to check it.

For your records and in case you wish to look at the original entry, the correct reference for this entry is; HO107/441/7 Folio 61. Boxmoor is in the parish of Hemel Hempstead.

Hi Vickie,
I have come across yout messages reference the Lea Family which links to a missing connection in our own family. My gt. gt. Grandmother was Elizabeth Lea, who was born in Hemel Hempstead in c1847. Checking the parish records for the time of her birth, I found an Elizabeth Lea born illegitimately to Eliza Lea. On her marriage certificate, her father is stated as being a Thomas Hose.
The connection, I think, comes about from the 1851 census where Elizabeth Lea is living with her grandparents, James Lea & Charlotte Lea in Two Waters. I have noticed on the 1841 census that there is a Betsey Lea (10). Could this be Eliza Lea with Betsey being a shortened form of Elizabeth?
Would like to hear your comments on this and any other information you may have on the Lea family..........PAULA
