Thanks Pam
Should that be aged 20 for William as I have him in the 1881 census in Great Amwell, Herts aged 40. He is my GGGF.
I think that is Rudd, which seems to be a family name, there are probably several other Lovick families there, and in fact still are!, who will all be related.

Here are the returns from the 1841 census, I don't know why there is a discrepancy for the ages of Charles and Susan.

Thanks John
I guess its because one or both of them are rounded to the nearest five years, or they just couldnt count! Still it gives me one more name to add to my list, and I would presume here that Robert is probably Charles father?

Hi Anthony
I think it probably is but unfortunately the 1841 census does not give you those details,if it is his father at least you know he was not born in Norfolk.
Good Luck

Thanks again John
Have also had a look on IGI and found a Robert Lovick married a Mary Wilson on 13 June 1808 at Riddlesworth, which looks like him. With Riddlesworth being on the Norfolk/Suffolk border perhaps he was originally from Suffolk, rather than Norfolk. (just looked on IGI again and there is a Robert Lovick born 1783 in Hopton, Suffolk, which is only a couple of miles away and looks like a suitable candidate). Amazingly there are still Lovicks farming at Riddleworth so I will probably try to get in touch with them.

Hi Anthony
l hope you see this message as William Henry Lovick born 1840 in Riddlesworth is my gt gt grandfather.
He married Hannah Twiddy in 1864 and they lived in Great Amwell.
Children: Edgar, William, Ada Phillis (this could be the other way round), Walter, Robert, Thomas, Lucy, Hannah Jessie, Ella, Arthur, Edwin, Whatty, Nanette Amelia (my gt gran), John Robert, Emily Minnie, May and the last one Jack (not to sure on this one).
l have been trying to find out if Charles Lovicks father was Robert. l have Robert Lovick married to Mary Wilson 13th June 1808 (she was born about 1782 and died 1832 age 50), the children that l have linked to them is Rudd baptised 8.5.1813, Sarah bapt. 4.10.1814, Elizabeth bapt. 20.2.1816, James bapt. 4.11.1817, Henry bapt. 19.9.1820 and Mary Ann bapt. 30.8.1823. Because the records that l had been looking at didnt go back any further, l couldn't find when Charles was born, l just know that it is roughly 1810/11. On the 1881 census Susan Lovick age 60, is living with her brother in law as a house keeper. His name is James and his age is 66.
Let me know if you want to know more ok.

Hi Kim
Mine too, small world, Hannah Jessie married my gt grandfather George Parker and they lived at Gas House Cottages in Gt Amwell presumably next to or at where the Lovicks lived. What sort of cousins does that make us then?
Well the supposition I made was that Robert was Charles father as he was living with him in the 1841 census, I've been looking at the IGI records but must admit I have been sidetracked somewhat over the last couple of weeks with what looks like a bit of a scandal on another branch (nothing to do with Lovick) and I've also been trying to research Whatte's Boer War records, without success so far.
Be good to share info with you as we are both looking for the same info, you can have details of my branch if you like.
