My Great Grandfather in 1881 states he is from G Cole, Lancashire. Does anyone know where that would of been in Lancashire? eg what is the place called now?

Hi Valerie
Have you found him on other censuses?
It might be easier to work out if you have them to compare.
What was his name & other details & perhaps we can find him, if that would help?
kind regards, Arranroots ;)

Hi Val,
Not any immediate help but I see he's the very only one with this birthplace in the whole census ... by 1891 he says Blackrod.
In 1871, if he's the right chap (living in Blackrod), he's down as born Wigan.

1861 has him down as Wigan too
... err, it's John Winnard we are talking about, right? ??? ;D

1851: Wigan as well - and they are living in Wigan.
