I know that a HANNAH LEE aged 14 (born Long Buckby) is listed on the 1851 census for Northants, page 5a24. Does anyone have this census available to check others in the household and the address? Thanks :)

Am still searching for Hannah, now in 1861 and 1871. If I'm right she had her first illigitimate child in 1865, William. 2nd, Ellen in 1867,3rd, Edwin in 1870. Is she with them on 1871 census, and what is she doing and where is she in 1861?I know she married in 1876, and have found her and the children in 1881. Thanks. :)

Hannah is not in Long Buckby on the 1871 census as Stephen Amos gave me a copy of his transcript.
Any idea where the family may have been and do the children have the Surname Lee or other.?

Thanks all for 1861 info. Hannah is more than likely in Northampton by 1871. Son Edwin, born c.1870, was born in Duston, Northampton.All the children , Edwin, Ellen & William were all Lee's.Thanks again,Sandy :)

Thanks guys! This is getting more confusing, though! Are the kids' surnames' Hancock on the 1871? I know that Hannah married a Charles White in q/e Dec 1876, and all the kids are listed on the 1881 census with the surname Lee! Hannah also married Charles White under her maiden name of Lee. :-\ I have just found a death q/e March 1875 for a William Hancock aged 42, so I guess that would perhaps explain why she married again, but I thought she'd have to re-marry with the name Hancock? ???

Yes the kids names are down as Hancock (maybe it was just for respectability, maybe she didnt even marry William)..... One of the childrens birth certificates may shed some light.....

That's exactly what I was thinking last night, perhaps they weren't even married! Great minds, Catherine! Just have to save pennies and find 1 birth cert. then ::) Thanks to all, Steph xx oh!! have just found birth for John Hancock Lee, June 1873 Northampton, think I'll give that 1 a go!!

Looking like William could be the father then (at least of John anyway, maybe not the earlier ones?), hence his surname as Johns middle name, but then he goes and dies before they can marry and make it official! ::)
