Could someone please do a look-up of the 1841 Kent census for me? I am looking for Jane Baxter, born about 1815 whose father was Andrew Baxter, gardener. The location is either Ramsgate or Minster in Thanet. The IGI has a possible family: parents Andrew and Mary Baxter with children Mary, Edward, Jane and John all christened on 8/Oct/1815 at Minster on Thanet.
Thanks

Hello Carol
This is very helpful. The details for Jane seem to match. I have noted from some Rootsweb posts of a few years ago that there is a link between the Freemen and Baxter families.
I have found John in the 1851 and later census returns and noted that he married Sarah Fuller.
To confirm that this is the right Andrew, I'll have to check the parish records.
many thanks

I have found the same Andrew Baxter in the 1851 census. He was then 72 and a pauper at the Union Workhouse, Isle of Thanet. His birthplace is given as Rinaarding, Scotland so I have got a solid clue to follow up now.
