Hello dmedal,

Walter, Boulaling, Cullen

William, Mill Land, Ballymartle

The usual spelling of the name of the people in your list in Carrigaline, Cullen and Ballymartle, all the same family, was 'Bouse'. It was sometimes also recorded as 'Bouce'. I believe most of them emigrated to Boston, Mass., USA, over time.

I am intrigued that there may have been, definitely was?, a Bowes family from Cork who had gone by the name Bouse and Bouce. I am studying the Bowes surname and its variants and would like to know everything possible about this family. It sounds like you are saying that the six occurrences of Bowes in Cork in the Griffith's Valuation are all the same family and that you have reason to believe most of them emigrated to Boston over time. Can you give me any more details?
