Can anyone locate a Margaret Amos,b. Jan.10,1816 on the
1841 Census?
In 1851,I find her in Eskdalemuir,Parish,unmarried,housekeeper,for William Patterson,farmer(unmarried,age 54.
She is listed as the neice of Wm.(b. Eskdalemuir)but she b. Cavers,Rox.
As far as I know, she never married,in Scotland, and came to Canada,circa.1855,where she married her cousin George Amos,s/o Wm.Amos and Janet Brydon.
I have checked the 1841 census,for Yarrow,and Ettrick,to no avail.
Any imput would be greatly appreciated.
Her obit,in Canada,in 1903,states she was born,in Yarrow,Dumfrieshire.Is there a Yarrow in Dumf??
In 1841,she would be approx.25 years old.

Thanks for your help.
It appears this family were the offsprings of Peter Amos.
Nowhere, does the name Peter, occur,in my family research.
Don't ever stop giving,if it's not mine, someone else may have benifited from your reply.
For me,based my research(limited as it might be)has helped me rule out PETER & margaret,as the parents of my Alexander,b. Ettrick? 1819.
Keep up the good work.

Hi, not sure if you can help but i'm trying to locate the Turnbull side of my family tree and not sure if you can help. Have you got a William Turnbull born in the 1800s at all? I'm stuck trying to find any info out about him - I know that he had 3 sons but I can't find any info going any further back at all.....

Cavers is in the Rule Water area of Roxburghshire
they is an old book about the area called rulewater and its people by George Tansced.
The Amos' & Turnbull's etc are mentioned and reads like a family tree.
Great Book - available on the net
