Title: census look-ups for GEORGE BAGG
Post by: Gillian Jones on Tuesday 07 February 06 20:42 GMT (UK)
I wonder if anyone could help me find out more about my partner's gt.gt.grandfather George Bagg's family.
He was born in Loders Dorset in1842,but as a railway worker spent several years in Eastleigh Hamps and was probabely there in the 1871 census. I am hoping he was living in Loders in 1861 and he would certainly have been there in 1851. I would love to know more about his siblings and possibly his parents
with thanks
Jill

Thanks again Jan.
The only problem with George Bagg is that in 1871 he was in Eastleigh Hampshire and in 1901 he was living in Devon.
If you are still able to get these it would be great.
I told my partner's 84 yr old mum last night (another Bagg ) and she was quite excited
Best wishes
Jill

You have been so brilliant at tracking down the Bagg family belonging to my Partner's family. I wonder if you could help me with one last request (I promise!).
My own gt. gt.grandfather was born in Admiston, which I'm told is the old name for Athelhampton in 1821. I have ALL census results except for the 1851 census. I am pretty sure he was living with his wife Sarah in Forston Dorset.Could you possibly find me what's recorded?
With thanks
Jill

hi

If you have not yet done so look on the Redbourn Website www.redbourn.org.uk Geoff Webb is putting up his picture archive I know there are some Quicks there.  It will take him some time to get all pictures done so regular checks may be necessary

Pity Gillian has not yet got back, George Bagg is Gt Grandfather for us.   I did most of the Bagg census searches 2003 and before, the Ide 1851 census film at the Dorset record office was very poor quality.  have some BMD certs and Directory info as well

Gillian:

I wondered if you have any further information on your George BAGG?

I believe he is probably connected to my family - I start with Robert BAGG marrying Jane Bishop in Loders in 1789.  Children so far are John, Robert and George. John is my husbands 3 x great grandfather.

I believe your George's grandparents could be Henry and Frances (nee Hide) who married in Bradpole 22 Dec. 1803.  Their son Henry was baptised in Loders 28 September 1810.  Older Henry was baptised 22 December 1780, son of John Bagg and Mary (nee Spracklen) who married in Loders 6 April 1761.

The only thing I cannot find is a marriage for your Henry and Ann ??

Did find a baptism for Frank son of George and Sarah, baptised 3 July 1864 in Loders, born 6 May 1864, father labourer of Up Loaders.

I'd be interested in who your partners 84 year old mum is??  My husbands grandma was Edith Louisa Bagg b 1898 in Winfrith.

Hi Gillian:

Just found Henry's marriage to Ann on the I.G.I. - 11 February 1834, in Bradpole.  Ann's maiden name was Parsons.  Record shows Henry's mother as Francis Hide.

Hi

yes I agree with that.  Henry Bagg was buried 5 Dec 1875 age 65 at Loders an Ann (Nee Parsons) 5 Oct 1877 also Loders.

I have 7 Children for Henry and Ann the last being the 1842 George.

I do also have a listing for a George Bagg that Married Audrey Hansford 21 March 1821 at Loders

Bob
