Hello
Noticed your interest in the surnames Donaldson, Ramage and Cornwall. I have all three names in my family tree. John Donaldson married Mary Ramage in 1811 Edinburgh, their daughter Janet Donaldson born 25 June 1829 in Temple, Midlothian, married Richard Cornwall (born 1826 in Temple) on the 24 June 1849 in Temple, their son John Cornwall (born 1855 in Borthwick) married Euphemia Peacock in Dalkeith 1875, their daughter Janet Donaldson Cornwall (my materal grandmother) married John Seath (my maternal grandfather).
Does this information have any connection to your family tree.
Best regards, Maggie

I have the Temple census 1841 with details of your ancestors. If you don't already have the info then let me know. :)

in Borthwick 1841 there are the following Cornwall's:

Hi there,
I have lots of Donaldsons in my family tree, in fact, I am one myself!! I have realised though that we came from all over scotland, and mine are mainly from Fife, and then seemed to move to Glasgow via Edinburgh, so there might be a vague connection! :D

Hi
Just found your post and wondered if you could help me. I am searching for my Scottish roots, unsuccessfully so far. I have an Alexander Donaldson born I think about 1832, son of Alexander, who turns up in England in the mid 1850's. I only know that he was born somewhere in Scotland. Any connection to your tree? I know it's a 1 in a million chance, but I've run out of ideas!
Thanks Yoyo

Hi Yoyo
Sorry I have no Alexander Donaldsons in my tree.
I suggest you have a look at the 1861 or 1871 Census for the area of England he was in to see if it gives a place of birth for him.
Cheers

Hi yoyo,
I have three (so far) Alexanders in my tree, the nearest date wise would be the one born in 1840 (in Fife). I am pretty certain though that he lived all his life in scotland. So probably no connected. Sorry. :(

Bryan
Thanks for your reply. I've already looked him up in the censuses and it just gives his birthplace as Scotland. Very unhelpful! Oh well, back to the drawing board!

Hello I am hoping someone can help me. The family bible has Scotland inserted. I have not been able to trace from the United States to Scotland. I have found Balis Donaldson who was born in South Carolina in 1813. That is as far as I have been able to find. Do any of the Donaldson's on here have a Balis in your tree. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks, Arie Donaldson

Hi Arie
Sorry none of mine have a Balis connected as far as I know.
