Title: Bunce help needed
Post by: luciloo on Friday 03 February 06 19:41 GMT (UK)
HI everyone
I am trying to help a collegue at work who has spent a few years on her tree.
She is having problems with an ancestor who she cant find a birthcertificate for him.
His name is Henry George Bunce born abt 1854. Now here is the bit that is confusing. He was supposedly born in Stafford Birmingham(being one word).
Needless to say that she is pulling her hair our

Could some kind person please help

Thank you
Luciloo

Hi luciloo,

I had a look through the birth indexes for 1853-1855 and only found one Henry George BUNCE:

March Quarter 1854 Uxbridge 3a 21

There were other Henry BUNCEs but without the middle name George.

Where did your colleague get her information on the place of birth.  I can't find Henry George in any of the Cesuses.

Regards,

Al

Here is some information my friend has found on her Henry Bunce  ???
In 1901 census Henry P(should be G) Lived at 9 Melville Road Willesdon. Railway Labourer His father's name was William but no name for his mother.
Wife Oliff (as spelt in 1901 census)
Son Henry G b 1883
Son William b 1886
Son Harold P b 1890
Dau Frances Eveline b 1896

Henry married Olive Canning in Newbury 1874 and died January 1926 in his 70's.

In 1901 where born is Stafford
in 1881 where born is Birmingham
She was told that in 1891 where born is Birmingham Stafford.
She has approached Stafford and Birmingham Registry Office for his birth certificate and both have said they have no record of him.

Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe he was never registered, it didn't become compulsary until 1875.
