I'm researching the LEANING surname as far back as I can.
I'd love to hear from anybody with info on Leanings from the Barton On Humber region, or elsewhere in Lincs.
Many thanks
J Ellis

Hi J.
I just seen your entry from 2004 for the LEANING family from Barton.
I have a Margaret Willingham(born 1806 Barton, daughter of John & Mary) who married John Brocklesby(born 1804 Barton, son of Richard & Sarah) in Aug. 1825.
Their first son was named John Leaning Brocklesby so I'm assuming they have a connection to the Leaning family although I have never found one.
Have you ever came across a connection between these 2 families?

Hi,
John & Mary and Sarah and Richard are certainly Leaning names in my tree. Some of the other names you are researching look familiar too, especially Naylor.
I am in work at the moment and wont be home to check details until Friday, but I will send you all the info I have then. Almost certainly there is a link....

John- Thank-you for the information about Mary Roberts. I knew about that marriage but never looked at the IGI for the baptism. I always searched for marriages or connections between the Brocklesby-Willingham-Leaning families, not thinking I should go back another generation to the Roberts.
Jonathan- I look forward to hearing from you on the weekend. If you read John's reply you now know how the connection between the Brocklesby & Leaning families comes about.
