Would someone please look up the 1851 and/or 61 censuses for Charles and Charlotte SUTTON nee Packham m 1841.

Kids should be Anne b 1844 Charles b 1847 and more?

Have just looked through the 1851 census transcription for Cuckfield and surrounding district - unfortunately there is not a single person listed with the surname 'Sutton'

Do you have any further info where they could be?

To save time looking through the 1841 which is not name or street indexed, do you know the marriage date of Charles and Charlotte, was it before or after the census?

Hello Chris

I am doing this for a friend in Oz !

She tells me " Charles Sutton and Charlotte Packham married in Dec 1841.This was in Cuckfield too"

She is waiting for the cert to arrive.

Daughter Anne(ie) on the 1871 census says born Sussex!
On the 1891 (age42) and1901 (now 50?) born Cuckfield Sussex.

There is a mystery with this family,whose isn't? Haha
Annie(married name Topham) born 1844 became a mum in 1870 and yet didn't seem to marry the father till 1896,in Brighton.It may have been because he wasn't free to marry-says widowed on marriage cert.

Hi Carol

Have just slowly scrolled through the 116 pages of the 1841 census for Cuckfield:

Sutton - no hits found at all
Packham - several single people who were all servants, but no families at all, therefore no Charlotte

Sorry to be so negative - but at the moment I can not locate them.

Do remember that Cuckfield as a registration district covers a lot of the local villages.

Looks like these are them in 1861.Living at 16 Apollo Terrace Brighton.

Esther Sutton abt 1854  Brighton, Sussex, England Daughter  Brighton  Sussex
