Thanks for the offer. I'm looking for the christening of Richard GORING, c1796. 1851 census gives his place of birth as STIRCHLEY, which I think may be covered by Dawley Magna records, but I'm not 100% certain of that. Hope you can find him.

George Easthope aged 41, born Madeley
Mary (wife) aged 39 born Broseley. Their first child Hiram was born in 1830 in Stickley (Sturchley?).
I have some information from another source which might suggest that George is the son ofRichard Eastop and Elizabeth of Shifnal.

I take it you are interested in the couple + umpteen kids in Dudley 1851:
HO107/2032 folio 508 p33 address New Dock
George Easthope, head, 42, furnace labourer, b. Madely
Mary, wife, 39, b. Broseley
with eldest son listed as
Hiram, son, 21, furnace labourer, b. Shi?ley, Shrops
I found these in 1861 census still in Dudley:
RG9/2057 folio 83 p10 address Waterloo Street, New Dock
Mary Easthope, head, widow, 46, b. salop, Brosely
with many kids matching to 1851
& Hiram as: RG9/2057 folio 82 p8 address Waterloo Street, New Dock
Isaac Hiram Easthope, head, 30, iron furnace labourer, b. Madely
+wife & 3 kids
so - my plan is to start by looking for the marriage of George Easthope & Mary in Broseley & Madeley (which were only about 2 miles apart) around 1830 - & including the birth of Hiram in that ;)
I have some information from another source which might suggest that George is the son of Richard Eastop and Elizabeth of Shifnal.
Is your other source the IGI from familysearch.org - which has a George Easthope born in Shifnal 5 Dec 1810 to Richard & Elizabeth Easthope?
Whilst searching for 1851 & 1861 census entries I noted that there is a George Easthope born c1810 Shifnal who is an unmarried servant in Ross, Herefordshire in both 51 & 61
... he looks a better fit with the IGI info than the Geo Easthope living in Dudley in 1851.... what do you think?
Anyhoo - I shall concentrate on the c1830 marriage of George Easthope to Mary with child Hiram for now ;D :D ;D

Yes, these are the fruitful two that I am interested in! I contacted someone else who was looking at the Easthope family (seems it was another branch tho') and was given the Shifnal George info. I am not 100% about it though hence my request to you to look for George and Mary's marriage.
Incidentally the family I know now have been catholic for as long as they can remember - I dont know if this might have a bearing on which records you look at.

Ellesmere PR Year 1810 page 246 Joseph son of William + Mary Cooke [of] ?Jet-?chill-moor was born January 25th and christened July 1st 1810
Pauline - not sure ;) Stirchley has a church, so I checked these PRs first, covering 1791 to 1803. The only possible was the Goram family - could it have become Goring - as follows:
1791 Decem 1[0/8] Ann the daughter of Thomas Goram by Eleanor his wife was baptised
1796 May 22 Richard, the son of Thomas Gor?n by Eleanor his wife was baptised
1799 Mar 24 Thomas son of Thomas Go?am by Eleanor his wife was baptised
I have started looking at Dawley Magna records (1794-98) but parts of these are v. difficult to read.... no Richard Gorings so far though.
I had fun - so happy to look some more if you have follow-up requests ;D ;D ;D

In the Stirchley PRs I found the following baptisms:
May 10 1829 Isaac Hiram son of George & Adah Easthope of Stirchley, Brick-maker
March 20 1831 George son of George & Ada Easthope of Stirchley, Brick maker
March 19 1835 Ann dt of George & Mary Easthope of Stirchley, Brick maker
Note the mother's name change! So I looked for & found the burial of Adah in Stirchley PRs:
January 7 1834 Adah ?Lois? Easthope of Stirchley age 28.
However - I have not been able to find any marriage records - for either of George's marriages :(
I have checked for George Easthope's marriage in the following places with no joy:
Stirchley Marriages 1820-37 & Banns 1823-36
Madeley (George's birth parish?) Marriages 1825-30 & 1834-37
Broseley (Mary's birth parish?) 1834-35 and typed index 1813-37
& of course, don't know Adah's birth parish :(
Not sure what to do next - any thoughts? ;D :o ::) :P ;D
On George Easthope's baptism... I've started looking in the Madeley PRs - 1809-11 checked so far with no joy... but note that the writing is very faint in places, so will repay a closer check.
So... interesting info & some added complications... that's the fun of family history. I did have a thought re George's marriage to Mary - given the absence of Banns at Stirchley (surely George's parish, even if not Mary's) maybe he married by licence
what do you think - take your time & we can try to think where to look next ::)

Thank you Rosemary i am certain this is my families Joseph Cooke and it confirms what was on the IGI. The place could be i think Tetchill More as i am sure i have seen it somewhere along my research.

hi rosemary..could you possibly find out the mother and father of thomas adams born 1806 astley shropshire...if you could possibly view his birth certificate.. its very kind of you to offer...my family are from astley back to 1570..presumably you aren`t far from astley...would you happen to know whether middle/myddle comes under astley church parish...the reason i ask is that thomas is down in 1 census as born in middle...as another in astley....all the family came from astley,so it puzzles me...regards...allan

many thanks peter...i am having a problem regarding thomas adams born 1806 astley...he is not on the list you have just given me.....the g.g.grandson of john adams 1860 astley has already given me the same names last week....thomas 1806 is on 2 census,but not on that list....he is on 1 census b astley ..on another as new marton middle...can you help me find thomas`s parents so that i can tie him into all the adams you have just sent ....thanks very much...regards...allan
