Title: Gee Cross
Post by: Oldfield on Saturday 28 January 06 13:47 GMT (UK)
from marriage certificate information Gee Cross was associated with Werneth. I always thought it was with Hyde. If I need to find information for a birth about 1791 what churches would I look in?  (name: Joseph Rowbotham) and his wife Elizabeth/Betty was also born Gee Cross about 1792 and they married somewhere   their first child born 1822 Newton, Hyde info from census    Can someone point me to what churches I should look for.    Thanks Dianne

Hi Oldfield,
There are several entries on the IGI index for Joseph Rowbotham christened around the right time in Gee Cross,Hyde.
Just search for Joseph Rowbotham,England.
There are churches mentioned but different dates,so ther may be more than one Joseph  R around Hyde.
Hope this might be helpful and not confuse the issue more!
              Best wishes
                    Cathy

People from Gee Cross, Hyde would be married in the parish church of Stockport because this was the parish covering there.     Many people from the area managed to marry in Manchester Cathedral too, or perhaps St Michael, Mottrom.

Hope this is helpful
