I received the following from a friend. If this is your ancestors please contact myself or Roy:
At what we in Canada call a flea market, I picked up a family bible for the equivalent of about sixpence.
It is about 7 1/2 " X 10 1/2 " X 3".
How it ever got to Canada and ended up in, basically, a junk pile, I have no idea.
I am c.c. Y-IRL in case some other members are researching the area.
My aim is to try and locate someone from the family who would be interested in having the Bible. (At no cost.)
I tried a couple of the Bible sites but they only seemed interested in putting a value on it and would I be interested in selling it. Not my intention at all. Just want to see it back where it belongs.
It was published M.DCCC.LIII.
Looks like a presentation Bible : --
Inside front cover, in flowery script:-
Mr. & Mrs. T. Moore
with
Mr. & Mrs. W. Meredith.
Best Wishes & Prayers for their
Temporal and Spiritual Prosperity
26/2/1855.
However, someone has filled three pages with a family history from earliest date 1811 to last entry 1879.
Unfortunately, a few entries were in pencil and are almost illegible. With my two finger hunt & peck typing, transcribing will be a chore but if it helps get the Bible back to it's rightful owners, it will be worth the effort.
I entered a number of the names into IGI and they are there.

Hello Roy
Interesting find. Would there be any Canadian entries that would include:
Canada 1881 Census, C-13247/p.129, National Library & Archives Canada.
St Patrick's Ward, Toronto, York, Ontario, District 134, Sub-district H, Div.3, household #656:

Ellan MOORE, female, 16, b. England, occ: book foulder, Baptist
Thos. MOORE, male, 14, b. England, occ: tin smith app, Baptist
George MOORE, male, 9, b. USA, Baptist
William MOORE, male, 4, b. Ontario, Baptist.
FHL Film 1375883.
Canada 1881 Census, C-13247/p.162, National Library & Archives Canada.
St. Patrick's Ward, Toronto, York, Ontario, District no.134, Subdistrict H, Division no.4
George Virgin, married, ethnic origin: English, age: 24, b.England, occ: laborer, religion: Church of England
Catherine Virgin, married, ethnic origin: English, age: 23, b.England, religion: Church of England.
* Catherine Virgin is a Moore. I also suspect that the Thomas & Ellen marriage is a second marriage for Thomas. Catherine I believe is from an earlier marriage of Thomas. In the dark on her mother as of yet.
Cheers,
Linda

I have read with astonishment your pedigree of Theodore Moore and the marriage of Sylvia Moore to John Ashbridge.
John Ashbridge (b 1846 London) was the eldest son of John Simpson Ashbridge b 1812 in Stepney London and the nephew of Maria Ashbridge b 1802 in Stepney. Maria Ashbridge is my husbands 3 x great grandmother.
My maiden name is Moore and I believe there is also a link on my side to Theodore, as yet unproven.
I would dearly love to give this unwanted bible a home, if it is still available after all these years and if you think my link is a valid one.
Please let me know

Hi Heather,
I have emailed the gentleman who had the bible. Please remember this offer was made in 2006 and he may no longer have it in his posession.
If/when he contacts me I shall contact you immediately

How very intriguing. I'm a Moore too, and I have Thomases, Georges and Williams. My George is even a tinsmith.
But I don't think there's a link, as my George was born in New Brunswick in 1845 or so, and the family migrated to Quebec where they stayed. I don't know where they came from.
Still, very interesting :)
Cheers,
China

Hello Roy and fellow members
I was reading through Roy's first post on this topic and noticed that George Virgin and a Catherine Moore is listed.
I am a decendant of theses too...I am their great great granddaughter.
For Roy: I do agree about there being a first marriage. Please look at the attached document. It explains a lot.
For anyone interested in more information or has more information on the MOOREs or VIRGINs, please contact me by email.
