Denis McGillicuddy married Catherine Dowling
Ballylooby R.C. 1838
Can someone please help with the parents of Denis McGillicuddy and Catherine
Dowling and the deaths of Denis and Catherine McGillicuddy.
The children of Denis and Catherine were registered Ballylooby R.C. 1840s
Michael,John,Bridget,Catherine and Thomas.
We have been unable to trace John who was born 1842.
Any information about McGillicuddy and Dowling families who you think may have a connection would be much appreciated.
Thankyou
Therese

Hi Therese,
I am hoping we may have a connection. I have a Mary CUDDIHY who was a convict into Tassie in 1847 who cites her father as Michael Makill Cuddihy in her marriage in 1854. I believe this should be McGillicuddy. Her mother being Bridget IVERS.
Bridget Cuddihy and her three daughters were sentenced to 7yrs for sheep stealing in 1847 in Co Clare.
Bridget was a native of Limerick and the girls were born in Clare between 1828 and 1833. Her record states that she was a widow of some 11 yrs.
Also that she had 5 children, 1 son in the 67th and 3 girls on board. I take the 67th to be the Army.
I notice that your man had named his first son Michael. Any chance your Dennis might be the lost brother of my three girls?
Cheers
