Is that Millbank/Milbank, the people, or Millbank/Milbank, the place ?

If people there are some Millbanks on here: http://essex1841.com/SelectSE.php?lname=millbank
and some Milbanks here: http://essex1841.com/SelectSE.php?lname=milbank
but I don't know the area well enough to know if it's near wher you are looking.
Hope this helps.

I have Milbanks in my family and at the moment they seem to cluster around The Easters and The Rodings. It's not a common name though, so there could be a link with your Henham and Felstead branch somewhere along the line. :)

Hi Diblet

I have a William Millbank born c1796 who married Sarah Young, born Felstead, in Felstead in 1817. William was of Henham at time of marriage, but could find no baptism there.
There is a baptism of a William in 1797 in High Easter, son of Thomas and Mary, but whether he is my William, I don't know.
William and Sarah are in Henham in 1841. William dies in St. Albans, Herts in 1845 and Sarah dies in Henham in 1858.

Our website now includes all the parish records for Henham, Essex.  There are various spellings of Millbank as you have probably identified already.  Check the website out at www.henhamhistory.org.  We are always looking for contributions so if you want to join in please feel free.

Hallo Henham, what a brilliant site  ;D ;D

BUT I am feeling sad on one point. On looking through the baptisms of the children of William and Sarah Milbank (harness maker), there is one missing. :'( :'( = unless I'm missing something.
William Milbank baptised 29th November, 1828  = (my 2x g.grandad)

Do you think this could be amended.  :)

Thank you.  :) ;) :D

Hi

It maybe that they were not baptised in the church, can you send me an email via the website and give me all the info, especially which church and if it was Henham, we see a lot being baptised in nearby churches and we have not included them.

Here is a copy of the baptism.

Try again, a bit bigger. Thats better. You will see that the children either side of my William are on the Henham website, in the parish records.

Williams siblings are on there, but not him.
Interestingly there are the initials P.R. above the date of his baptism, so don't know what this would mean, other than parish register. :-\ :-\

I am also descended from the Milbank family in Henham who are in the 1841 census. I now have quite a bit of information on where they went to. Please get in touch.
Dianne.

Hi Suffolk Sue - I think "P.R." might mean "Publicly Received" [into the congregation] i.e the baptism was made in the church not in private
