I have Thomas Prestidge born 1887 in Northamptonshire married Agnes Phillips born 1891 in Llanelli,
They married in Felinfoel in 1915.
I cannot find Thomas or his family on the 1891 or 1901 census and have reason a believe they were in Wales.I hoped someone might have a look for him for me.
Thanks
Linda

Hi David,
Thanks for trying to help.
The information I have from the marriage certificate of Thomas Gilbert Prestidge is...he married on June 26th 1915 in The Parish Church of Holy Trinity Felinfoel to Agnes Phillips age 24..Father Josiah Phillips a Coachman. Her residence at the time of marriage was Aclybryn Cottage Felinfoel. Witnesses Josiah Philips, Edith Phillips and Sydney Smallpeice.
Thanks once again

Hi Linda
Is it Thomas & family you are trying to find? You have only given Agnes's father's info and not Thomas's.
kind regards, Arranroots ;)

Hi Sorry, This lot are wearing me down !!
It's Thomas's family I am looking for. Father Thomas a surveyor born 1862 in Moreton Pinkney, Northamptonshire, Mother Mary Charlotte Abbott born 1865 Sapcote, Leicestershire. Brother Walter Harold born 1889 and sister Lottie Sophia born 1891. Thomas was born in 1887. All children were registered in Sapcote, Leics and baptised in Moreton Pinkney. All within 8 weeks of their respective births.
I read in a book that Thomas (elder) and his family had been in Wales at some time and this seems to be born out by the fact that Thomas (younger) married in Wales.
Wondered if this was where they could have been on 1891 0r 1901 census.
Thanks
Linda

Thomas' parents are still in Moreton Pinkney in 1891, no Thomas at home.
-
Hi both
D'you know the significance of Pinkney completely escaped me? There must be a connection there - where are your lot from David?
I thought Thomas's father was another Thomas? The mother Mary fits, but the siblings are wrong.
There is at least one other PRESTIDGE family in the village, but that didn;t seem to match either.
Maybe it would be an idea to get the birth cert if there is some uncertainty? (Maybe it is just us being uncertain, lol!?)
kind regards, Arranroots ;)

I was thinking that the Thomas son of David in the census i have indicated was the father of Thomas c.1887. Was trying to work forward to find Thomas c.1887 with them.
It's Thomas's family I am looking for. Father Thomas a surveyor born 1862 in Moreton Pinkney, Northamptonshire
P.S i have unfortunately no links to Moreton Pinkney :'(

Hi,
Thanks for looking for my elusive Prestidges.
I have Thomas seniors marriage certificate to Mary Charlotte Abbott and all three childrens B, M and D certificates. all say Mary Charlotte Prestidge formerly Abbott was their mother.
It's just very frustrating not being able to find them.
I have Thomas Senior and Mary Abbott before they married and have their marriage certificate and both their death certificates. Have all three childrens B, M and D certs.
Just can't find them in 1891 and 1901.
Hopefully they'll pop up one day.

Lottie and Walter seem to have married much later and on the south coast?
;)
-
Yes, that's right.
Lottie married in Southampton to Percy James Caulton and died there in 1973
Her parents must have moved there too at some time as they both died in Southampton. Thomas in 1949 aged 87 and Mary Charlotte in 1948 aged 83.
Walter married Annie Ellen Stephens in Brighton in 1913. He was stationed in Preston Barracks there. He was my husbands Grandfather and my husband was born in Brighton in 1942.
Walter died in 1948 the same year as his mother (Mary Charlotte) aged 58.
As you can see I know all about them, just not on the 1891 and 1901 census lol

A book has been written about the village of Moreton Pinkney and right through the 1800's dozens of Prestidges all originating from the same John Prestidge and Hannah Walker born 1719 and 1721 were born there.
There is even an original row of about 9 cottages called Prestidge Row because at one time about the 1850's is was exclusively occupied by Prestidge families. The village is now owned by the National Trust and is well looked after. The house that my husbands Great Great Great Grandmother was born in is the oldest house in the vllage and is still lived in.
Have visited there and taken lots of photos.
Been in the church that Thomas, Walter and Lottie were baptised in.
