Ive found on 1841 census the following SOMMERS in Devon.
John Sommers 60 high st, Ilfracombe
Elizabeth ~ 45 - -
George Sommers 40 Montpellier terrace, Ilfracombe
Mary ann ~ 20 - - -
William Sommers 50 Loxhore town, Loxhore.
Mary ~ 55 - - -
William Sommers 20 Ram alley, Brixham.
Lots spelt SOMERS
and also 27 EASTAWAYS on 1841 census.

Hi, I have a photo taken of a grave in Ilfracombe, unfortunetly not very clear but I will give you what I can read...the grave is of the low flat tomb style and has inscriptions on both sides...
1st side:
George Sommers Reed
Died July 18th(19?) 1911 aged 78
Also of Mary his Wife
Died April 18th 1903 aged 68
2nd side:
Also two sons of George Sommers & Mary Reed
George Henry Died Jan #th 18##
Thomas Bruce Player Died Feb 28th(?) 1902 aged 2#

Mr Charles S Reed , 43 born 1869 in Ilfracombe. Son of George S. Reed & Mary Reed (nee Harding) and the brother of William, Frederick J., George H. and Thomas B. P. Reed.
The family were living at 1 Sandringham Terrace, Ilfracombe in the 1881 census.
He signed-on to the Titanic in Southampton on 4th April 1912, he gave his address as 140 Derby Road, Southampton.
His previous ship was the Majestic.
As a bedroom steward he received monthly wages of 3 pounds 15 shillings.
Charles was lost in the sinking. His body if recovered, was never identified.

From Titanic Relief Fund Minute Book #2, Southampton Area.
Date Nov. 27th 1913.
A grant of 5/- per week be paid from the Compassionate Fund to purchase surgical appliances for Mr Reed (Partially dependent father).

richard reed married elizabeth sommers by banns 10th april 1822 at holy trinity, ilfracombe. witness by margaret reed and george sommers my 3rd grt grandfather more if you want. regards jeffda1
