Hi again Gill:
It looks like it is in the Waterside area. Here is map.
http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?pc=BT47+6BW&title=Dungiven+Road+Primary+&+Nursery+School&scale=25000
The school that is marked is on Dungiven Road.
I also found this:
The new Londonderry Union workhouse was erected in 1839-40 on a six-acre site on the north side of Glendermott Road (now Dungiven Road) at the east of Londonderry.
See map at: http://users.ox.ac.uk/~peter/workhouse/Londonderry/Londonderry.shtml
Good luck,
Pat

Hi there, Dungiven Road is in the Waterside area of Derry/Londonderry. It is one of the main roads in to Derry from the main Dungiven/Belfast route. Spencer Road, Glendermott Road, Clooney Terrace, Simpson's Bray all roads around this area. My Grandmother was born and reared in a house on the Dungiven Road (McAdorey)...There you have it

Hi Bigfellow,
The family I am looking for at Dungiven Road are McCormack/McCormick. Head of household would be Samuel, and he would have at least one child living with him, Elizabeth aged 4or 5 (born 1906 @ Dungiven Road). Sorry I dont have a house number, but would like to know if there were other children, and who Elizabeths mother was although I suspect she died when Elizabeth was very young / possibly after birth.
Any help appreciated. Many thanks. Gill

Gill,
In 1906 the roads in Ireland did not have official names. Dungiven road could have been the main road from Londonderry to Belfast via Dungiven or if one lived in Limavady it would have been the road from Limavady to Dungiven, now called Ballyquin Road. However if one lived in Dungiven the former road would have been the Derry road and the latter the Limavady road. Confusing!! Hopefully, from the information you have supplied, someone will be able to narrow it down.
Regards
