Title: MacLean / McLean
Post by: Crowhunt on Wednesday 18 January 06 03:21 GMT (UK)
Hello to any all MacLean / McLean's!
I have recently run across a James MacLean who married a Agnes Crow in Elgin on 9 Jul 1852. They had, of what I can find so far, 9 children. One of which was a James MacLean who married a Christina Wilson Gray in Elgin on 17 Jun 1887.  They had 6 children, as far as I can find so far.
Now does anyone have these MacLean / McLean's in their family tree?

Hi - I am researching my family of  Macleans' that lived in Nairn. My great grandfather Alexander Maclean was a Master Carpenter and Builder and built a few properties in Nairn and especially the new free church, which unfortunately he went bankrupt over.
His wife was Elizabeth Black and they lived at Water Lane, Church Street and finally at Park Lane, Balblair Road Nairn. His business premises were at the back of the property (now owned by the Gordons').
Children were Jane (Teacher who was 20 on 1881 census) she married Alexander Fraser - Merchant lived at Merchants House Nairn - had one son Alexander who moved to South Shields and a daughter born in 1901. Hector Maclean worked for his father, James Maclean (my grandfather) was in the RAMC and had a solicitors business in Edinburgh, Alexander went into carpentry, John Anderson Maclean was first Minister at a church in South Shields, Donald went to India and died at the age of 22 - Mary, Margaret Alice, Elizabeth and Ann McQueen maclean.

I don't know if any of these might perhaps be a relative of yours. I am desperastely looking for photos of them all - Faith

thank for the post.
I don't have any matches, so far, to your family.
Best of luck to you.
MacLean's have been very hard to locate.
