Help please on details of possible Northants marriage between John Palmer b. c.1799 and Mary Ayres b. c. 1808 both born in Peterborough.
Eldest known child, Frances b. c. 1833 perhaps in Northants (not in Huntingdon).
Their subsequent children were born in Ramsey, Huntingdonshire where the family were living at the 1841 census.
NB. This topic transfered from "Huntingtonshire".
Many thanks

I have Ayers (that spelling) of Peterborough around that time. Recently at Northampton central library came across this that may be of interest:
Baptism: Mary Ayers 08/02/1809 daughter to Thomas & Mary.
Sorry not the marriage you after, but thought it might be your Ayers/Ayres.

Hi Freeman/steph-b
Alan and Marilyn's marriage index do not seem to cover the area you want yet.
You could send him a request in case he has them elsewhere.
As they are in Hunts on the 1841 can't help there so it seem as though it is a
Parish Record look-up or hopefully help from Alan.
Sorry.

Dear Steph,
Many thanks - could be ....
Her son John Palmer's birth cert shows "Ayres", but who knows ? Please confirm this entry was Peterborough.
Regards and thanks again

Hi,as requested:
06/10/1816 Thomas Ayers son of Thomas & Mary (occ. as waterman)
03/10/1819 Elizabeth Ayers daughter of Thomas and Mary (occ. as labourer)
21/04/1822 Susanna Ayers daughter of Thomas & Mary (occ. as labourer)
08/10/1824 Mary Ayres (as spelt) daughter to Thomas & Mary (occ. as porter)
25/05/1827 Ann Ayres (as spelt) daughter of Thomas & Mary (occ. as porter)
N.B. different spellings, also another Mary in 1824, so I would imagine different families! Sorry if that's muddied the waters! I've been having SO many problems with this line of my tree! Hope this is of some interest , though. ::)
-
Hi Steph
I agree looks like two families.
Better to have muddied water than no water at all. :)
I dont suppose you have a possible marriage for the Mary Ayers/Ayres born 1809 by any chance?
Hope you resolve your problems - take some "fresh airs" perhaps. :)
Thanks again

Hi Freeman,
When this info was collected I was only looking at births, I'm afraid. However, due a trip to Northampton Central Library within next few weeks, can check it out for you. To confirm: you are looking for marriage of John Palmer & Mary Ayres dates poss. 1824-1833?
best wishes, Steph :)
-
Dear Steph,
Thanks for your great offer.
Yes, probably 1833 back to 1824 very earliest
as Mary born c. 1808.
Believe oldest child, Frances b. c. 1833. If you happen across her birth detail that would be a added bonus.
Dont spend all day on this ! :)
Kind Regards
Freeman

No probs. Will get back to you a.s.a.p. Steph ;D

Hi Freeman/Steph
I managed to pick up the information re: the Marriage and Baptism I said I had found from the Library today.
1st one.
St John the Baptist Peterborough P.C. By Banns 5th November 1832.
Pg 15 No 45
John Palmer o.t.p. Bachelor to Mary Agers (at least that is what it looks like the vicar has written) o.t.p. Spinster
Both sign their marks. Witnesses John Church and Frances Palmer both sign with their marks.

Has Sandy's info and my stab at the birth answered your quest, Freeman, or is there still something you'd like me to check on visit to library, poss tomorrow? :) Steph
-
Hi again Steph,
Thanks your offer. Sandy has other worries so perhaps you would give a second opinion on the marriage of John Palmer to Mary on 5/11/1832 as to her surname given - Agers or Ayers ? Full details above (27th Jan).
Would be most grateful. :)
Best wishes

check tomorrow (2nd Feb), post when back. Steph ;)
-
Hi Freeman, agree with Sandy, looks like Agers but the writing is very fancy!! Can't add any more than that, I'm afraid :-\ Steph
-
Hi Steph
Fancy that !! ;D
Many thanks for that lookup.
Looks as if the Ayres/Ayers ( + Agers) query will be an ongoing aggro. :(
All the best
