Hi
I have finally broken a brick wall that has held up my research into my 2 x g grandmother's family for the last six years! I have found her with her grandparents on 1851 census as follows:
HO107/2498/753/11/45
Canal Lock House, Trallwmgollen, Welshpool, Montgomery.
John JAMES head, aged 71, Serjeant and Chelsea Pensioner, born Welshpool
Catherine JAMES, wife, aged 70, born Ireland, Belfast
Catherine JAMES, grand daughter, aged 20, born Welshpool.
Is there SKS who could see if John and his wife Catherine were living in the same place in 1841. Their Grand daughter, Catherine at that time, is living with her parent's in Mill Street, Brecon.
regards

Hi there, sorry to butt in
I have looked up the image on the 1841 census and I would take issue with the ages given by Lloydy.
I see them as
John James (62), Catherine James (62), William James (20) & Catherine James (10).
Don't know whether this makes any difference, Muddy.

Hello Stan
I don't mind you "butting in" all help is appreciated. Thank you for your input unfortunatley it doesn't help. I was hoping she wouldn't be with what I thought were he grandparent's in 1841 but the fact that she is, proves that she isn't mine! This is just one of those difficult nuts to crack. I have a theory but need to get to NLW to see if it pans out.

another butt in and I hope it isn't a waste of your time but looking at christenings on IGI there is one for a Catherine James on 24 August 1830 in Welshpool with parents John and Sarah.
If I have worked out the dates correctly this seems a possible
I hope so
best wishes

Hi Peter
Thanks for looking for her for me It was good of you - the fact that this Catherine was living with her grandparents at time of the 1841 census proves that she isn't mine. the one who I think is most likely mine was with her parents in Brecon at the time of that census.
When I posted my first message I thought that perhaps the Catherine I had found was going to turn out to be mine as up until that time I had not been able to find her the 1851 census I needed to prove that she was not with her grandparents in 1841.
The problem is that she married my 2 x g grandfather in 1854 in Brecon and her name is given as Catherine James; but on their son's (my g grandfather) birth certificate she says her former name was Jones! She says she is a spinster at the time they married but could she have been married before to someone with the surname Jones. That you see is my problem. A bit difficult to explain really.
