Title: Kite family in Kent
Post by: msv on Sunday 15 January 06 20:45 GMT (UK)
Am researching the Kite name in Kent.
Have got back to William Kite born circa 1763 who marriedElizabeth Cole in 1790 at Chilham, Kent.

Is anyone else researching this line ?

A lot of my ancestors had the second Christian name of 'Finch'

Hi did you get any where with the Kite family in Kent ?

I've just come across Susannah Kite married 1783 Kent, in our tree but this was in Margate not Chilham - but I thought it might be worth asking

cheers

Helly

I've got some Kites stuck up my family tree:      ;D

Elizabeth KITE, 1731-1794
---------------------------------
married William WEDD 28 Apr 1748 (marriage settlement in Kent Archives)

Burial certificate dated 4th April 1794, aged 63

Marriage settlement trustees were George Children of Nizells as well as Edward Wedd, tallowchandler of Headcorn.  She brings to the marriage a farm called Homestall in Headcorn, two houses and some land in Headcorn, a hop garden in Sutton Vallance, plus a third of her father's residual property - so an heiress with no brothers.

One of the three daughters of:

Richard KITE
---------------
'late of Headcorn'

William KITE, 1711-1761
------------------------------
born ? Staplehurst
married Mary, maiden name unknown
died Headcorn
buried Headcorn churchyard

Any connections?

Hi LDW,

Just reading this thread & noticed your ancestor buried Headcorn churchyard.

It's just down the road from me, and I've got to go there next week to the bridal shop which is literally next to the graveyard.  Do you want me to have a look to see if there may be any Kite gravestones (particularly that of William b 1711)?

If I find it (or any others) am happy to jot down readable inscriptions and take photos.

Thanks for that grandarog - you never know!

Of course, I don't know if LDW needs a photo or anything but it was just a thought as I'll be right next door  :)
