Title: Ancient parishes
Post by: christie on Sunday 15 January 06 15:37 GMT (UK)
Could anyone tell me what the ancient parish would be for Newbridge.  My Tudor family lived there and I want to search the Census for them.

The Civil Parish historically for Newbridge, which is but a stones throw from where I write this, was Ruabon up to 1891.After this from 1901 to date it has been Cefn.As far as the Church Parish,it was again Ruabon up to about 1837,when the new Parish of Rhosymedre was created. It so happens that I have with me the Rhosymedre Parish registers;Marriages 1844-1888,as transcribed by Clwyd FHS.Would you believe it,there are a few Tudor entries!
