Hello
Thank you for the reply< I am trying to track down a EDWARD WELLS b? I do not know his birth place, so I am trying to trace it, he had a daughter KATE CATHERINE WELLS b1872c she married @ PARISH CHURCH Loughborough 1896 to STEPHEN ASHFORD b1872 I think SOMERSET, some one sent me the
1851 census for LONG BUCKBY NORTH
with
WILLIAM WELLS HEAD 42
BETSY 39 wife

I am trying to go back and track down William's parents, but how can I be sure this is my EDWARD ?when I have no idea of birth place of him or
KATE Catherine. I am looking for either LEIC OR NORTHANTS, area's, and I suppose I am trying to make certain they are my family, hence the hesitation, any advice would be great thanks again

Hi Beryl
I thought I was going "up the wrong tree" but on freebmd their is a marriage of an Edward Wells to Emma Lumm in the Dec Qtr 1868 Leicester Reg District which fits in.
Now if some kind soul could find it for you it may confirm William as his father?
I have found Edward on the 1871/81/91 and 1901 Census and will list if we have the correct man.

Hello again Sandy
soory to be a pain, in the marriage of William & Betsy Wells

HI Beryl
Sorry to hear that you are not well.
I am waiting for someone to find the marriage for you of Edward to Emma.
Apart from that it looks as though Edward more than likely is the child of William.
otp = of the parish .
Cheers Sandy

Hi again Beryl
Just to add some information to William's marriage details.
Pg 86 No 256 By Banns Long Buckby
Both sign their names with their marks.
Thomas Alderman and Elizabeth Crofs signs with her mark.

More details to the children Mary and Ellen's baptisms.
Pg 81 No's 646/647 Long Buckby
Not sure why there is no baptisms for any more children as they do not become non-conformists.
Maybe being a Labourer he couldn't find work and therefore was not in receipt of enough money for paying the price of the Baptisms.

Good Morning Sandy
Thank you for the information, you have been a great help,
I have put every thing you have sent to file and when I feel a little better will put it on the tree. so you think Edward is definetly mine? I was so confused because of not knowing his birth place, I am going to be cheeky and ask maybe you can help me with another problem or just give me some advice. my Grandfather was married in Loughborugh, died in Nottingham but I cannot trace his birth place, I do have a couple of addresses for him @ Leic, in fact I know everthing about him but his place of birth, I even know his father's name and his occupation, I would of course understand if you can not help me on this matter
Kind Regards
Beryl

Maybe we can glean the family on the 1901 if you could tell us the names of
Samuel and Florence's children in case Samuel called one after his mother.

Morning Sandy, and everyone who is helping
I have not got the family on 1901 census, I would dearly love to find Samuel Percy or it could be Percy Samuel, I have tried but got nowhere with him.
If you need any more information please let me know, and
if I can help you in any way also do ask
Kind Regards & a Million Thanks
Beryl
-
Hi Beryl
I know what you mean about Samuel/Percy. Ancestry is very good but if someone thinks the
word is different then we can not find him on the indexes which seems to be the case.
If you type in your search engine freebmd.com and go to the web page then type in
John Leach then the time scale of the marriage date then you will see loads of them.
Do you have any knowledge of your mother's aunt or uncles being the siblings of Samuel at all.

Hello Sandy
I do have a little more, on a peice of paper that I found shortly after Mum's death, concerned Samuel ;
EDITH HOLLAND sister, not known if it is married name or a maiden name.
There is aslo reference to his Mother being married before and the name DANES wrote down.
and a scribbled mention of Kings Lynn.
He was a Catholic, and as I said before an Army private if that helps any, sorry it is not much to go on I know as I have tried till it has drove me insane, but I thought maybe a fresh mind and all that, there is no one to ask and he was not a very kind man to me or my siblings, we never knew anything about him as we could never allowed to go in his house, & he never ever spoke to us, only Mum was able to go in, why I have no idea, I think it must have had something to do with father because we were not able to tell him that we gone with Mum to visit.
But I need to trace him for Mum's memory as I promised her I would find her family

Hi Beryl
Do not seem to be getting anywhere on this so let's go back to basics.
On Ancestry their is a Birth of a Samuel Percy Leach in the March Qtr of 1891 in Warwickshire.
You could ask the Registrar whether or not his father is John (a Miller) or send for a certificate and maybe waste £7.00 if incorrect. If asking the Registrar the Vol Page etc on the G.R.O. (they do not have the same system) will not be needed.
In the mean-time I will see if I can spot him now we have a possible birth area.

Morning Sandy
