Title: 1851 census- William Pinder - help needed re. birthplace, please
Post by: GaznDon on Thursday 12 January 06 11:06 GMT (UK)
Hi all,
I have a query relating to William PINDER of Swallow Row, Attercliffe.
I can make out that he was born in Notts, but not his actual birthplace, or his wife's birthplace.
Their details are:
William PINDER / Head / M / 49 / Farm labourer / Notts   ???
Elizabeth PINDER / Wife / M / 49 /  Notts    ???

Ref H.O. 107 / 2342

They were living in Wellow, Notts for the previous census (1841), but their first child was born in Rufford.

Many thanks,
gazza189  :D

Hi Nessie,
Yes it does - but Grenidon doesn't seem to exist, and Holbeck Woodhouse is the best I've made from Obackwookhouse!   ;D
Does anyone else have any ideas, please, or perhaps someone could check it on the 1841 census (if it gives birthplaces)?
Thanks!
 :)

Must admit I checked and couldn't find anything remotely fitting those names :D

Thanks Nessie. Hopefully someone can look in 1841 for me!

Unfortunately the 1841 wont help as it only tells you whether they were born in the county of that census or not. It doesn't give any place names.

Hi Martin,
That's a shame.
I think the 'Grenidon' or 'Gunison' could possibly be Gonalston. I think the enumerator had very little knowledge of Nottinghamshire villages!
If anyone has any better suggestions, please let me know!!
