Title: Royal Artillery, Iraq &Iran
Post by: Gippy on Thursday 12 January 06 08:31 GMT (UK)
During WWII my father served in the 461Bty/85th field/Mountain regt. R.A in Iraq/Persia. Records show an association with the 5 Indian Division and 21 Indian Corps. Later went on to Italy. Would anyone know what action took place in Iraq/Persia. Or was it simply to ensure Irag stayed on the right side.

My father was in Iraq for a while during WW2.  He didn't see action there - the job was to guard the oil wells   (sound familiar?).

Just had a  "google" and found this  www.bbc.co.uk/dna/ww2/A1126522
