I have hit a brick wall with my JENKINS line.
I was wondering if SKS could do a lookup on the Vic indexes for me?
I am seeking any info on a William JENKINS & Mary Jane SPEKEN
They had a son William George JENKINS b 1885 Footscray, Vic? could be born Clunes, Vic?
d. 1966 Warrnambool
m. Adelina Maud SALT b. 1885 d. 1964
I have children names of Adelina & William but I want to know about William George JENKINS parents and siblings.
I believe the parents names are correct - I got them from the Vic BDM historical record of William George 1966 death.
Any help is much appreciated...

There are too many marriages to a John Henry Jenkins
There appears to be a death for a Kenneth John Jenkins at Warrnambool in 1955 f. Herbert m. Jeanine Williams (reg17578)
There is actually 40 deaths recorded at Warr. for Jenkins
A Mary Jane Jenkins d1957 72yrs f. William Henderson m. Sarah Campbell (reg 23182)
A William Jenkins 79yrs d1937 Warrnambool unknown parents (reg 13387)
A google search on "Jenkins family Warrnambool may give you leads"

You have given me heaps to work with - I have done a tonne of Google searches on the JENKINS name with little luck as there are so many of them
I will look at SA for more births to the couple when I get a chance to go to the State Library. It sure seems her maiden name Spilkin Spiken Speken etc had a few variations..

Had a brief look at the SA BDMs... no luck there :-[
It may be that they didnt register the children esp if they were
born out in the sticks!!!
I have the problem in country NSW with living on a big property in the middle of nowhere.
Your family may have lived in isolation too.
If you ring the Warrnambool council they maybe able to
assist with burial enquiries.
I believe that if you ring someone in that town now that they could be related to one of those sons.

I think you're right about the not registering births being in a real country area. I grew up in that part of the state.
My grandma Jenkins still lives in Port Fairy so I will call her and see what she can tell me about these earlier generations.
Thanks for the tip about the council too - I have always been a bit unsure about finding out about burial information. I will check out the Warrnambool Jenkins listed in the phone book too.

Looks like the female line here is Mary Jane Spikin, one of the children from the marriage 11 October 1858 in Brantingham, Yorkshire, England (registered Beverley district) between John George Spikin and Hannah Harland (born Swanland, Yorkshire and baptised North Ferriby 3 Dec 1837). They emigrated to Australia after their marriage, arriving in Melbourne in January 1859 on the boat the 'Annie Wilson'.
