I have just found Edward Shellard he was born in Northampton 1813 but moved to Worcester where I think he married a Isabella this being before 1839 as the first chlild was born in 1939 a Isabella. She then went on to have Robert, Mary and Joseph. I need proof who his dad is, I think it is Edward born in 1775 and also with brothers of Joseph and Samuel (Edward 1775 being my grandad x 3 times) removed. I can then think up so more many people Have contacted Dudley but they have no record which then tells me they married before 1837 but dont know where They lived in Oldbury with Isabella being born in Edgbason Birmingham in 1820. I am now at a loss where to go.
Many tnanks

Hi Sandra,
Have looked at 1841 census for Worcestershire/Gloucestershire/Staffordshire and found no trace of Edward or Isabella.
Why did you think Dudley for marriage?
Do you have them on any other census?
Do you have birth certificates for any of the children? Any more details you have please post them.
Regards
Susan :)

Sandra,
Edward Shellard, bn 1812/13 Northants, (canal) boat builder of Oldbury, Worcs/Staffs, was my grandfather, twice removed, and was married to Isabella Barrett at Handsworth pc, Staffs, 1838 Aug 5 (civil reg: Sep 1838, West Bromwich 18 538 ). His father is recorded as Edward Shellard, boat builder, and the marriage was witnessed by Wm & Ann Shellard.
I am anxious to trace Edward's (Northants) ancestry and Isabella's (Edgbaston) ancestry.
Regards,
Michael

Sorry about the reply here. I understand that Edward born in Northampton was your grandfather twice removed. Well yes he is in my family tree. Edward born 1775 was his Dad. Edward as far as I know had 2 brothers Joseph and Samuel.
Edward (1775) is my great granddad 4 x removed.
This is how it goes in my line:
Edward Shellard (1775)
Samuel Shellard (1823)
Harry Shellard (1857)
William Henry Shellard (my granddad)
that is the direct line down.
This is great news. I don't know who William and Ann could be though. There is far too much to type down here but if you need anything at all I can attach to an email if at all possible. Do you have any other info on Edward's dad (Edward 1775). Please keep in contact as you are a light at the end of the tunnel.

Hello Julie
This is a bit of an odd post. The original was posted on 9/1/06 and the reply before yours on 8/3/06 thats nearly a year ago!How on earth did you dig this one out.
Anyway,I don't have a connection to your family.Rootschatters are people like yourself who use whatever knowledge we have to assist others. It would be better in future to start a new post to any questions you might have but in the meantime here are your other Barretts(Barrotts).
Children of John:
Samuel/Ch.23/5/1773
Sarah/Ch.11/9/1774
Mary/Ch.19/1/1777
Sarah/Ch./5/3/1780
Children of John & Ann:
John/Ch.16/8/1778
Ann/Ch.24/2/1782
James/Ch.10/8/1783
Joseph/Ch.1/5/1785
Martha/Ch.2412/1786/D.22/8/1788
Isabella/Ch.16/8/1789
William/Ch.11/3/1792
Lucy/B.9/6/1793/Ch.23/6/1793
All Edgbaston
Marr:
John Barrett=Ann Wharton/16/2/1773
John Barrett=Ann Marice or Marres(mistranscription)/12/7/1773
I suspect the second crop of children are from the same family as there are no Christenings in the same year as you might expect from 2 families.

There doesn't appear to be any Barretts in Edgbaston prior to these dates, but in next door St.Martin's there is large contingent including these:
John Barrett/Ch.18/4/1752/Fa.Thomas/Ma.Mary
Siblings:
Mary/Ch.22/10/1748/Fa.Thomas
Thomas/Ch.31/8/1750/D.1750?/Fa.Thomas
Joseph/Ch.14/9/1754
William/Ch.4/7/1761
Edward/Ch.9/8/1763/D.20/8/1764
William Henry/Ch.12/11/1765
No way of verifying if this is your family but it's a probability.
