Hella all,
Any help would be greatly appreciated with my remaining 19C brickwall.
Looking for the Birth of (my Great-great-grandmother) Elizabeth Charlotte MURLEY. On subsequent censuses her birthplace is listed as St Helier, circa 1837.
Her father was Thomas Papper MURLEY and mother was Charlotte, both were born in England.
I would also like to find Thomas and Charlotte's marriage record (if they were married!) to find Charlotte's maiden name.
Don't know what happened to Thomas, but by 1841 Charlotte was living with a Joseph SMART.
Thank-you and Best wishes
Mark

Hi Mark -
The St Helier church register gives the baptism of Elizabeth Charlotte MURLY on 15 April 1838, daughter of Thomas and Charlotte Ann.
The parents marriage was in St Helier on 10 Sept 1835:
Thomas Gapper MURLY
Charlotte Anne TOOGOOD
both residing in St Helier.
and unfortunately, St Helier parish church also records a funeral on 30 April 1838 of Thomas Gapper MURLY, aged 26 years.
So the poor chap died very young, only 2 and a half years after he married, and two weeks after his daughter's birth. I wonder what his cause of death was?
I hope this helps with your 'brick wall' :D

Many thanks Mike,
Shame about poor Thomas - I suppose that's why Charlotte is living or married to Joseph Smart in 1841 (St Helier 9) and subsequent censuses.
Thanks again,
Mark
(Just in case anyone with an interest reads this in years to come.... Elizabeth Murley later married Charles Taylor in London - 1872)
