An open appeal for anyone who has access to the 1841 census for Alloa ...
I need a look up for Thomas Gibson, who is said to have been born circa 1780 in Clackmannanshire which may not be accurate, but in any case he should appear with his wife Hannah [Stewart].
Any help in this matter will be appreciated.

Could this be him? Living at Broad Street, Alloa in 1841
Thomas Gibson aged 65, Carter, born in Clackmannanshire
Hannah Gibson aged 55, born in Clackmannanshire
Catherine Gibson aged 20, born in Clackmannanshire

Thank you! It certainly could be him, especially because of his wife's and daughter's information. I have his wife, Hannah Stewart, as being born on 5 March 1784 at Alloa in Clackmannanshire and the census shows her as being aged 55 [close enough to 57] and born in the correct county. I have their youngest child [and youngest daughter] Catherine as being born on 12 December 1820 in the same birthplace as her mother, so the data dovetails.
Thanks again,
Terrance

If you give me the names of some of the other children, I'll have a look for them as well .. but away for the weekend so won't be until next week.

Thank you for your kind offer.
Thomas Gibson (born circa 1776, Clackmannanshire; died after 1841 census and before 1851 census) married (15 December 1804, Alloa) Hannah Stewart (born 5 March 1784, Alloa; died 8 January 1861, Alloa) by whom he had eight children [all of whom were born in Alloa]:
William, born 18 October 1805;
Isabel, born 28 September 1807*;
John, born 28 August 1809;
James, born 13 October 1811;
Helen, born 11 March 1814;
Jane, born 5 August 1816;
Alexander, born 27 October 1818;
Catherine, born 12 December 1820 [living with her parents at Broad Street in Alloa during 1841 census].
*Isabel married Alexander Kilgour (born circa 1797), they were my thrice-great-grandparents.
Once again, thanks!

I am interested in Thomas Gibson and Hannah Stewart and their daughter Isabel. You indicate that she married a Kilgour. Do you have evidence of this connection? It is just possible that she married James Neilson, but my evidence is slim.

Yes, someplace I do have a record of the Kilgour/Gibson marriage. I'll have to hunt for it in the attic and get back to you.

Hello Terrance
I have been searching for an Isabella Gibson who married James Neilson in Edinburgh in 1833. She was born 1806-1807. Their first child was Janet (James's mother's name), their next child was Thomas Stewart (hence my guess at Thomas Gibson and Hannah Stewart) and their next child was Hellen Brown (Thomas's mother was Helen and I don't know where the 'Brown' came from). It is guesswork and I can't be sure. However, this is the only Isabel/Isabella Gibson who I can find who was born 1806-1807. So that is why I thought that her parents may be Thomas and Hannah.
Kind regards,
