My Gt-Gt Grandfather Samuel Turner was in the St. Helena regiment, which was disbanded in 1837 and left St. Helena, with his family on the 'Maitland' but I don't know where they landed, although some of the family ended up in London, anybody any ideas, can't find them in the 1861/51 census.
Thanks

Hi Chrispenz
Could you provide some information (birthyear/places) for Samuel and his family which might help locating them?

Hi Biker,
Thanks for your message. The only thing that is certain is that Samuel was born in England, had a child with Elizabeth, called William who was born in St. Helena, I have tried all the usual, census, LDS, etc. but not having any joy!!!!!

Hi Chrispenz
That's a real needle in a haystack looking on the census without at least birthyears (or approximates) for any of them ....
I guess you've seen this ? http://website.lineone.net/~sthelena/index.htm
Good luck
