Have you tried http://www.records.nsw.gov.au

There are two entries you may be interested in -

Probably no relation but my ears popped up when you said that Mary was an Irish orphan.

My Original ancestor to arrived in Australia was Ann Kennedy from Arles Queens Co. She arrived in NSW. in 1849 from the Carlow Work house & was one of the Irish orphans that travelled down to Gundagi. Her name is listed on the wall of remembrance at Hyde Park Barricks.

She sponsored my G/grand father John Kennedy & his two brothers & all their families out to NSW. in 1856. By coincidence their father's name was James Kennedy.

Thank your for your information Brian.

James Kennedy died 1889 Dubbo NSW
Mary  died as Mary Mcleish  1900 Narromine NSW
have not been able to find a marriage for her to a John McLeish according to her death certicate the  date would be abt 1876 , when James Kennedy was still alive ..

still have not found when James arrived.  death cert  states born England, Father James Kennedy, labourer.   in colony 40 years, place of marriage Melbourne at age 39 to Mary Mcelhone. ( have found various spellings of her surname)
her death cert says born Inniskillen Ireland  .

of course some of the information on the cert. could be incorrect .

Hi Jennie

of great interest, Thank you for the marriage information of Richard Wrench to Mary Mcalhoney that ties in with a marriage cert of  John Mcleish and Mary Wrench in 1881 Orange it all fits into place now.

it looks like Mary was not married to Kennedy?  must look for a marriage now in Victoria for Kennedy/Wrench to check this out.

yes I have Charles Kennedy birth cert the only one have not found births for the other children, they may be registered in Victoria under Wrench.

charles kennedy birth cert has James kennedy father Mary formerly (looks like)Mclession mother
born 1871 Orange nsw
