That was a surprise!
With one post to your name in Dec 2005 I thought I was wasting my time...just goes to show  :)

I will assume that getting to various record centres in London is a no no.........

You could start by joining the.........

http://www.eolfhs.org.uk/eolintro.htm                 just had a look, their are people researching the name HYAMS

Cornelius doesn't appear to show on the LDS (Later Day Saints) site prior to his marriage in 1802 so we have no idea how old he was or who his siblings (one imagines he had some?) are......
Mary his wife appears to have had children over 10 years from 1802-1812 so that brings you to believe one of several things, the most obvious is she died? and as Cornelius is not seen in 1841 one assumes he has gone the same way......

SO..............

Cornelius Himes (Hyams) when he married Mary Moss at St Dunstans in 1802 would have had witnesses, who are they?...........normally when married close to home they are siblings of the happy couple!
Was Mary Moss of full age or a minor? ......... the east of london family history soc will be able to answer those questions

A new post on rootschat is required for Cornelius Hyams NBI (National Burial Index) 1811-1841 somewhere around Stepney/Bethnal Green, Middlesex.....the same applies for Mary Hyams

Is this site any help? (Docklands Ancestors)

http://www.parishregister.com/searchpage.asp

You have to pay, but it is £3.25 for the whole search. They have St Dunstans there, but 1770-1798 is "coming soon".  So you might have to keep checking back to see when it is there, as that seems to be the era you want.

I thought £3.25 for 8 baptism transcriptions was pretty good, and the payment bit seems secure.

I would be THRILLED to find all that transportation info, Bryant, how on earth did you make the connection?

You could look on that site for the 1802 marriage - hopefully there will be witnesses.

I have much information on Cornelius and descendats in Australia, his transportation records, Colonial crimes, Marriage of Cornelius the Senior and Mary Moss, the baptism entries for all of the children etc. Cannot seem to get back past their marriage, and cannot find deaths.

Actually you can SEARCH at parishregister.com for free.

I could not get anything on Himes/Hyams, but if you search on Moss you get a lot of hits. Two are for Mary Ann Moss.  If I were you I would search on MOSS and then download all of them for the money, rather than the two Mary Ann MOSS records, and hope that they are she, if you see what I mean.  These other MOSSes might be Mary's relatives.

The Parishregister site for dockland's ancestors is very good and safe. Worth checking back as they are adding records all the time. You can still do a kindof "narrowing down" search (a bit like Scotland's People) to see if your folks are there. Luckily you have an unusual name to look for!

I see pj has just added something similar ... ;D
