that wentworth street one sounds promising..in 1851 he was age 30 living at 89 wentworth street with his wife and 2 children, unfortunatly i know nothing of his parents or siblings. Does it say what no wentworth street? and does 1841 give an occupation? thanks for your help
ps couldnt log in as webster any more for some reason so had to re join with new name ???

No occupation for John.........their is one for George but I can't read it! it would appear to begin with C and contain 6 letters, if I had to guess it would be a Carman (a form of salesman) but I wouldnt be confident that it is Carman.....................
The 1841 is very basic in what it provides.............it doesn't give relationships or birth place............other than in County = Y or yes.........
or Out of County = N or No............ie in or out of Middlesex = Y or N
Their are no Street numbers recorded on the census, which is not unusual for the 1841................
The 1841 has a rule on ages.........it generally rounds them down to the nearest 5 or 0............ie 20-25=20, 25-30=25 etc ........with the two ages being neat on 20 and 25 for George & John probably means that rule has been applied here?
Wentworth Street is full of Lodging Houses and in one of them is
WENTWORTH STREET SOUTH SIDE, ST MARY WHITECHAPEL, TOWER HAMLETS, MIDDLESEX
ANN SHEEN 20 NIGHTLY LODGER IRELAND
----------------------
the house that George & John are in.........is only occupied by them and Mary Smith
WENTWORTH STREET SOUTH SIDE, ST MARY WHITECHAPEL, TOWER HAMLETS, MIDDLESEX
GEORGE SHEEN 25 C????? Y (BORN IN MIDDLESEX)
JOHN " 20 Y "
MARY SMITH 25 DRESSMAKER Y

I have the last will and Testament of John Sheen, undertaker of 88 Wentworth Street, Whitechapel. who died 4 September 1865. that i can send you.

Hi,
Well done Bryant that 1841 was so hard to find at Anc.... :)
In case anyone else is looking John is transcribed as John Shelar age 70 ::) it's at HO107/717/5 f.8 p.8.
I think George is a Carman but just in case I'm including this link to an old occupations site,
http://rmhh.co.uk/occup/c.html
As you know Samuel isn't his father do you have John's marriage certificate showing his father's name?
Regards,
Daisy

Hi Daisy
I'm having problems copying this (will ) to this page due copyrights, i can type it out, but it will take some time. you may have this information on John and Sarah Sheen, it would seem the had 9 children between 1845 and 1861 as you know John was an Undertaker of Wentworth Street, Whitechapel, John died 4 September 1864. i think his wife Sarah was committed to Leavesden Asylum, Watford, Hartfordshire. this needs to be proved.
