Hi Reg,
Would any of your Tubbs have branched out to East/West Hendred?

I am afraid I am not familiar with "East/West Hundred". I live in Canberra, Australia so I cannot answer your question. Go to my website http://tyndale.roostchat.net and search for Tubb. You may not get into the site at the moment because it has exceeded it's bandwidth (must be too many people looking at it). 1st March it should be back on line. I will be looking for another website host if this bandwidth problem persists in not allowing people to view it.
Cheers

Hi Margaret
Thanks for making contact. I haven't very much on the Tubbs. However, if you have a look at my website http://Tyndale.rootschat.net you can do a search for the Tubbs. You will not be able to see the website until 1st March because the bandwidth has been exceeded (whatever that is I don't know - I will be looking at another host for my website in the not too distant future). I am sorry about that but it is out of my control.
Please keep in contact - you never know there may be a connection there.
Cheers

Hi Reg,
I can't get on your website at the moment, but will try tomorrow.
Lambourne is about 10 miles?? from East/West Hendred, so you never know we might find a connection yet.
Best wishes
Paula

I would say there is a good chance that the Tubbs from Lambourne are related to the ones at West Hendred, as in 1773 July 11th Mr John Tubb of Lambourne was buried at West Hendred - sadly I can't seem to find a will for him - have tried PRO and Berks RO (index on microfiche) - it might have told us a bit more

I will contact you again. At the moment I am at my mother's bedside (she is 91) and I don't know for how long as she is gravely ill.

You made contact with me in March when I was with my Mum who was gravely ill at the time (she passed away 19 March).
I almost forgot about you until I was reviewing rootsweb about some other matters and came across your above communication.
You wouldn't believe it I received a message from a 'relative' in England who is the 'bedford/Tubb' tree and he supplied me with a gedcom. Yes, the person you mention above is in there. He died on 5 July 1773.
We have some of the descendants in our tree.

Hi again Reg, good to see things are happening with the Bedford/Tubb line. Haven't been in touch as I've been moving house, but please email me again. Would love to catch up with the new information. Same email address, or use the PM facility on rootschat.

We have Tubb's in our family line however, one of them changed their name to Bedford and that is the line I have been concentrating on. The early Tubb's I haven't done very on them at all. So, I cannot see a link at this time.
You may wish to visit my website at http://tyndale.rootschat.net/index.php and do a search for the Tubb's. If you find a link please let me know.
Bye and good luck

Hi Reggie,
Have been trying to access your 'Tyndale' web site but it's still not working.
I have Tubbs in my tree. They are from Hungerford Berkshire,

I am sorry Abium, I had to take it down because of a complaint from one relative. I will send you a PM with my email details and you can then send me a brief descendant chart and we will see whether there is a connection.

This is by way of a long shot query. I have a Great Uncle, Allen Howe DENHAM, who I have been told worked for Adm Fred. G Denham Bedford as a Coachman in England. If this is true I have always wondered whether there was a family connection because why was he given a middle name of DENHAM? I wondered if Fred's Mother, Eliza Ann Swainson, has DENHAM's in her tree and so I am asking if you could supply details about her family as I see you have her mentioned in your TUBB/BEDFORD tree.

I hope by now that you will have also tried the Wiltshire wills indexes - not your John I'm afraid but quite a few West Hendred TUBBs there.

Hi Reggie
I'm descended from Hannah TUBB b.Beenham, Berkshire abt.1788. There may be a connection? She married(?) Richard WILLIAMS in Berkshire. I can give information on her descendants from that marriage down through my line to the WILLIAMS coming to Australia, however, I have nothing beyond Hannah TUBB herself (ie. her parents/siblings).

Hello Les
I cannot see a connection. However, in saying that, there may be a connection in there somewhere although being quite distant.

Hi Cathy
I'm the same as Reggie, that is, my Tubbs are way back with no known NZ connections. However, my great unlce was Norman Leslie Williams (descended from Tubb) who was a POW in WWII (Changai Prison), but he never married and remained in Oz.
Hi Reggie
You are probably correct. There could be a connection somewhere, albeit distant, but how distant............................? Hannah is the only Tubb I know of, then she married Williams, which is the line I know about.

I own a group of seven oval portraits by the Irish painter Thomas Hickey (1741-1824) which according to old labels on the back depict William Bedford (1744-1825), his wife and five of their children, some of whom are also named, eg "Octavia" and "John Bedford 2nd son". The latter painting is also inscribed in a 19th century hand "John Sherman Tubb, afterwards Bedford, born 6th March 1771 married 9th July 1800 died 30th September 1807. Judge of the Admiralty Court of Barbadoes (sic)" My interest, in truth, is more in the paintings than in the geanealogy, since they are not related to me. A colleague at the College of Arms tells me the family records there are scant but that "By Royal Licence dated 11 May 1785 (College of Arms Ms: I.33/88) John Tubb then of Acton Green co: Middlesex represented that his uncle the Rev. Thomas Bedford of Letterkenny, co: Donegal having no issue hath expressed a desire that he should assume his surname of Bedford out of affection and regard to his said uncle."
If anyone could provide me with the biography/genealogy of this family, I would be delighted to reciprocate by sending JPEGS of the portraits. The pictures are being cleaned and conserved at the moment and will be photographed thereafter.
