Title: ANDERSON - Deskford - 1851/1861 Census

Looking for further information about the following family:

James ANDERSON married Barbara RUSSELL on 29 June 1844 in Deskford.

Together they had six children (that I know of):

George - born 31 July 1844 in Deskford
Ann - born 3 January 1846 in Deskford
James - born 4 June 1848 in Deskford
Margaret - born 5 September 1850 in Deskford
William - born 28 Sep 1852 in Leitchestown, Deskford
Jane - born 10 Jun 1854 in Deskford

If anyone has access to 1851/1861 census records, I would appreciate it if you could look up this family for me.

Margaret 6 months Banff Deskford
Donald Campbell age 15 Farm Servent Ross-shire Arria
Isabella Reid age 16 Domestic servant Banff Cullen

Hi Sarah

Your ancestors cannot be found in the 1861 census a reson for this is that no one was home the night they did the census so they were left off.

I have the following information and it has a few extra kids.

1871 Census Deskford

James Anderson age 50 Crofter of 96 acres 94 arable
Barbara age 46 employing 2 men 1 boy
Maggie age 20 Farmers daughter
Jane age 16          "             "
John age 14          "         son
Besty age 12        "          daughter Aberdeenshire Monquhitter
Henry age 7 Scholar Banffshire Deskford
Jessie age 5 Scholar      "               "

If you want other censuses looked up just let me know.

Thank you so much for looking up both the 1851 and the 1871 censuses for me.

I now have a total of 11 children for my ANDERSON family, instead of the 6 I had when I first posted my query.

The 1861 Census shows James Anderson (41) Farmer 32 acres employing 1 boy, and family at: Thornhill, Monquhitter, Aberdeenshire.

Barbara (Russel) -wife 36 born Deskford?
George - 16 Ploughman born Deskford
Ann - 14 born Deskford
James 12 ditto
Margaret 10 ditto
William 8 ditto
Jane 6 ditto
Mary Ann 6 months born Monquhitter (Died at age 6)

My wife's Great-Great Grandmother (Betsy, also a daughter) was also born there 16th May 1858. Don't know where she was during the Census?
