Title: 1841 census - DEMPSEY in Chester possibily Handbridge
Post by: Saxlingham on Saturday 10 December 05 09:50 GMT (UK)
Hi

These DEMPSEYs were in Birkenhead in 1851 but prior to that were in Chester whwere they all claimed to have been born.
Birkenhead St Mary’s, Cheshire
Edward DEMPSEY H M 57 Coach painter Chester (all)
Sarah DEMPSEY Wife 50
Sarah Daur U 24 Dressmaker
Jane DEMPSEY Daur 21 Book Binder
Edward 13 errand boy
Mary 11 scholar.

They returned to Chester by 1861 and lived in Francis Street, then later in Glynn Street and Handbridge. Any sign of them in 1841?

Thanks and best wishes

Louise

Hi Louise

I have had a quick look through the Handbridge area and cannot see them, unfortunately there is no name index for Chester in 1841 so an address would be helpful, the birth certificate of Mary b1840 should show an address or at least details of a parish which would make a search a bit easier.

bye for now
