Hallo to you, Gogogadgetlegs

On the 1861 England census there is the following:

RG9/3570, Beverley, folio 96 page 2
Principal Street, Cherry Burton
John Watson, head, 86, Retired machine maker, Yorkshire - Cherry Burton
Jane Watson, wife, 79, Yorkshire - Leckenfield
John Watson, son, 60, Machine maker, Yorkshire - Cherry Burton
John Vairy, grandson, 10, Yorkshire - Cherry Burton
Richard Vairy, grandson, 6, Yorkshire - Cherry Burton

and on the same page

John Vairy, head, 52, Yorkshire - South Dalton
Mary Vairy, wife, 50, Yorkshire - Cherry Burton
Hannah Vairy, daugh, 8, Yorkshire - Cherry Burton

There is also:

RG9/3572, Beverley, folio 93 page 8
Parak House, Leckonfield, Yorkshire
George Langdale, head, 31, farmer of 528 acres 17 men 13 boys 4 women 2 girls
Thomas Vairy, serv, 16, Plough boy, Yorkshire - Cherry Burton

The probability is that Thomas, John, Hannah and Richard were the children of John and Mary Vairy.  It is likely that Mary was the daughter of John and Jane Watson.  These would need to be confirmed.

BMD records have the following:
Birth: Richard Vairy, Sep quarter 1854, Barnsley, vol 9c page 56

Hope this helps
Philip

Dear Philip,
Thank you for this information.  I already have this but am looking for any information on the marriages of this family after 1880.
Thanking you again for your time, best wishes for 2006.

I'm a little confused as to what you are looking for. You seem to have accounted for all the Vairey marriages in Tynemouth - are you looking for families on later censuses?

Happy to help, but I wouldn't want to look for info you already have.

All the best

Philip

Dear Philip,
Many thanks for your reply,  i had hoped to find some of the later members of the Vairy families, unfortunately most of the children married after the 1901 census so i guess until the 1911 census comes out,  information would not materialise unless i could hopefully find a contact from the list of children.
Although i have no direct link with this family we do have the same g/g/grandfather and a relative of the one who married in Australia exchanged information with me and the outcome was that i offered to see if i could find, possibly a living relative.
Ever hopeful,
and thanks once again for all your efforts, it is appreciated.

Don't know whether there could be any connection, but one of my family, Esther Lowsley, married a Walter Varey in Hull in 1904. Lesley

Dear Genewizard,
First i would like to apologise for the lateness of my reply.
We have had major breakdown in both our computers but have managed to get my wife's up and running at the present time of asking.
Thomas Scott Cranston married Annie Varey 1895 which is the same details as i have, this connection comes through my grandmothers name of Watson.
I am at present trying to get my information from my hard drive and if you wish to send me your email address i will send you all the details which i have so far.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Gogogadgetlegs

My mother was a Bewick before marriage (she died in 1990).   My grandmother was a Vairy.    North Shields too.    Recognise many names too.
