I am trying to find more details on Benjamin Illingworth who married Mary Unwin on 28th July 1825, Womersley, Yorkshire.
I am told that the Womersley records are held at WYAS, Wakefield and if anyone is able to do a look-up for me, I would appreciate it, I need to know Benjamins date and place of birth, and especially his parents names, etc.,

Have you looked on the IGI?
There at at least six births for Benjamin Illingworth in the Yorkshire area circa1804 approx
Mother and Fathers names are listed!

The pre-1837 marriage records are unlikely to hold the information you seek.
Nevertheless, Pontefract would be the local society for the area, and their information can be found here. http://www.parishchest.com/en-gb/dept_336.html

Is Illingworth a common surname? If not, you may find a connection to the Illingworth family here in Ecuador (where I live). The family includes a "mathematician" who is a minor Guayaquil politician. These Illingworths have been in Ecuador since at least the 1840s. One of them (I don't recall his first name off hand) was mentioned in Richard Spruce's "Notes of a Botanist on the Amazon and Andes" (vol. 2) in connection with a financial fraud which cost Spruce most of the money he had invested to finance his work. If you think there might be a connection, I'll look up the Spruce reference.

Hello Jacsel
Where did you get your information about Benjamin and Mary?
More than one Womersley in Yorkshire, which is it?
If it is the one East of Pontefract, one Illingworth family resides there in1841,
unfortunately not Benjamin. Here they are -

Hi Oly,
I have a Benjamin, one of six known sons born to John Illingworth, mothers name unknown, place of birth unknown, date circa 1790-1800.
I have a contact in Washington DC who also has a Benjamin, one of seven sons, mothers name Anne Wolstenholme, fathers first name unknown. Her Benjamin was married in Womersley, I didn't know there was more than one Womersley and I don't think my contact did either. Where is the other Womersley?
All my contact knows is that her Benjamin married Mary Unwin. Naturally we are curious to find out if our Benjamin's are one and the same. I have been up on the IGI and found lots of Benjamin's and even more Anne Wolstenholme's, but not one married to an Illingworth. There was one entry of a Christening of a Benjamin, 13 April 1805, All Saints, Wakefield, father John Illingworth and mother Hannah ? but nothing conclusive.

Hello Jacsel
Womersley Row was a district in Bradford on the 1841 census, it was placed between Woodhall Hill and Bagley in the list. It came up first wnen I did the 1841 Yorkshire Master search for Womersley. Next came the one I posted from.
Try the Pontefract FHS, web address www.pontefractfhs.co.uk If this does not work just put Pontefract FHS in your search engine.
They cover Womersley, for two or three £ you can have Marriage indexes that took place at St Martins Womersley 1754 to 1837.

I am also related to Benjamin and Mary...I can't find the Wolstenholme connection George Wolstenholme married an Ann Gilderdale but the most reasonable connection seems to be Kellington. There was a family of gameskeepers and Ben was a gameskeeper...he died in 1841. He had a brother John who also lived in Womersley.
